True hole-in-the-wall place. Usually that's a good sign in the SF/Bay Area. I like the vibe. The area doesn't seem shifty during the day, but I can see how it might change a bit after dark. I wasn't in love with my carnitas burrito, though it was pretty damn decent. Not moist enough. I prefer a lot of salsa, guac, and sour cream. The tortilla was different. Not better, not worse. The free chips and dips were a nice bonus. They're not the best chips, but ya can't really complain about free. I'd come back if I were in the area.

Delicious tacos. Only $1.85 and they are definitely quite stuffed and stuffing ! I ordered the cabeza (head/cheek) tacos and they were perfect. Especially if you are an exotic food chaser. Super delicious !

I love Mexican food so much, and this place does it justice! Got their super burrito with chicken, and it was deliiicous. They PACK their burritos. I ate half and was stuffed, and you get chips on the side! Be warned, like their sign says, ALL their salsas are spicy, even the guac looking one. And even though this place doesn't seem like they'd take card, they do!

It's all about the chips n' salsa. He got Lengua tacos and I got Shrimp. Not only is the food wow and easy on the wallet, he says his bottle of beer was only three bucks. Some places will run like six or even more. But for my man who was only raised on home style Oaxacan dishes, he says these guys are top notch with their flavors! Those salsas can be picante, there's a water dispenser to the right of the register. If you are voluptuous, the bathroom is a squeeze. I am a walking bone (with a chubby belly) and found it difficult to maneuver in such a petite bathroom. It's small but pretty. Glad we came to check it out, I wouldn't come alone at night and try to find parking by myself here n' stuff.

Anything less than 5 stars is all lies! This place is ridiculously BOMB (I don't use that term freely)! Simply some of the best Mexican food in the bay. Skip the mission cause this place has the best tacos. Al pastor, shrimp tacos and a bean and cheese burrito with a side of guac n chips too. Worth every penny, and it's literally pennies cause it's pretty cheap for the quality and quantity. The salsa buffet is pretty good, the green creamy is my favorite. They give you a bag of chips to take home with your salsa. New go to spot!

WoW ...this place did not look like much from the outside...but when we walked in the place was clean..everyone was very polite and the food was amazing! I had the surf and turf burrito and it was amazing

Yum! Cheap hole in the wall authentic Mexican place. Free chips and salsa with a $6 purchase. The chips were good and the salsa was very spicy and wonderful! I like the serve yourself salsa bar. I preferred the tomatillo salsa, it was perfect. I had the shrimp tacos for an entree (2).The shrimp was perfect grilled and fresh and crispy. It came simply dressed with onion and a green salsa that was very spicy again. 2 tacos was not quite filling, I probably could have done 3. My husband had fish enchiladas which were good and cheesy, with great soupy refried beans on the side, and rice. This place looks like it is in a bad neighborhood, but, we were fine.

Legit the best tacos I've ever had. Fish tacos are grilled! GRILLED!!! Most places do beer battered blah blah blah. They make it when you order it. It comes on corn tortillas so no carbs. It was hooooot when it came out. The meat overflowed the tortilla. The tortilla could barely handle the yumminess! My boyfriend and I had to get seconds because it was sooooo yum! Please guys. Do yourselves a favor and go. Just keep an eye on your car.

Found this place when a friend was working shifts at an auto shop near by. Asians have been mysteriously finding this place ever since. In my humble (not so humble opinion), this is the best Mexican food north of the border. Here's what I've had: Tacos Lengua/Tongue: These cows must have tasted the rainbow because this is probably the most tender lengua anywhere. Just the right balance of fat to lean meat. No musk at all. Fish: Let's just put it out there. The fish taco has been gentrified. It's like Williamsburg or Kung Pao Chicken. It's now owned by White Man LLC. A lot of places try to jazz it up by using yuppie fish like Mahi Mahi or trout. Not this place, costco bulk purchased tilapia flash fried and lightly coated. How a fish taco should be done. Steak: Not the best cuts of meat but enough seasoning to mask its inadequacies. Chorizo: Makes me want to learn Spanish so I can personally travel to the land of the chorizo to learn its secrets and explore its boundless possibilities. Burritos: I usually go with the tacos here but if you're feeling a mule then by all means. They are to die for. Maybe even warranting a reincarnation just to die for them again. Horchata: Tastes like cereal milk. I LOVE IT.

Good service, friendly people. Menu is written in Spanish mostly. Food is ok, chips and salsa are below my expectation. No parking! Please take time to find street parking. Kinda expensive though. I will come and try other dish.

Man, this place is AMAZING. Bit of a hole in the wall, but that doesn't keep it hidden. This place was packed. We ordered tacos Al Pastor, a shrimp taco, and a carne asada burrito. We managed to squeeze in to the only empty table. The wait to have our food served was a little long, but with the amount of people the, I understand. Best food ever.

  • Brian A.

Really good Mexican food at a great price. We had a super burrito, two quesadillas, shrimp tacos, and the seafood quesadilla. Our total bill was $29 and the food quality was superb. Parking options are very limited, but well worth the effort. Highly recommend.

I've been coming here for like a year now, and I have to say that they make some pretty bomb burritos. I've tried the majority of their meats but their carnitas is on point so thats the go to. Their salsas are on point too so no complaints there. They also cater to your individual needs so if you want your food a certain way, they got you. (As long as it's not like super unreasonable) I've really got no complaints for this place, other than parking but this place is definitely worth the walk if you find parking two blocks away.

What a meal! We were enroute to the airport and had time to stop for a quick bite. Taqueria San Bruno had rave reviews. And boy did it deliver. Friendly staff. Crisp (and not greasy) chips with the smoothest guacamole around. Each bite of carnitas was like a little fried morsel of joy. Great salsa bar. Quesadilla was the icing on the (delicious) cake. We will definitely be back!

Wow, so unexpectedly awesome! Most taquerias in Pacifica are meh, so we ventured to this place since the reviews sound awesome. The location is a bit random, between a ton of auto shops. Since this is a hole-in-the-wall taqueria, it's a little messy inside, but thankfully they don't use those tacky white fluorescent lights that most taquerias use (good way to make customers not lingering too long). I got the fish, carnitas, and chicken tacos. Super impressed with what I got. Tacos came piping hot. The meat has a good quality and super crispy (they grilled the meat to order). My bf ordered a chicken fajita plate, which is super tasty too. The taquerias is family owned, so everyone is super friendly.

Came here on a Saturday night for a quick bite after hearing about great reviews from this place. The location is a bit out there. Normally would not think there would be a restaurant out there surrounded by all auto shops. The place is quaint and a bit outdated but the food was great. I got two tacos. One with carne asada and one with carnitas. The carne asada was very flavorful and the carnitas was not shredded like many places instead it was crispy little pieces which I loved. My friend got the veggie burrito which was given 4/5 stars. Also, there was a great salsa bar. Couple of the salsas had a pretty good kick to it so for those they aren't so good with heat, try sparingly. Would definitely come back again and try out some more of their menu.

This is my 500th review and I am glad this restaurant gets the honor. My morning started off with an early flight out of Dulles into San Francisco. It was one of the longest worst flights I had in awhile so I was ready to get my grub on after my husband and I picked up the rental car. I immediately hit up yelp and it led us here. I admit i was a little worried about the location since not located in the best of area but it turned out okay. We found street parking and walking right to the restaurant. No other patrons were inside but we did see the welcoming yelp sticker on the outside of the door. Looking at the board menu it was hard to decide what we wanted. Finally we decided to order chips with salsa, burrito, fish taco and shrimp taco. You can pay on credit card so no worries if you don't have cash. I don't even know how places can survive without credit card machines anymore? The salsa bar is fresh and full of flavor. There was a sign stating it is spicy but I didn't think so. I can't really tell the difference when things are spicy anymore since I eat it so much. So it could of been spicy. You be the judge. Anyway, The chips were big and crispy and fit a lot of salsa on them. My husband's burrito was huge and he had only ordered the regular size. I can't even imagine what the super sized one would look like. It had chicken, beans, and rice inside of it with sauce and sour cream on top. My husband swears this was the best burrito he has had since we lived in Texas over 10 years ago near Fort Hood. I believe him since this man loves and eats burritos whenever he travels. My fish taco and shrimp taco were small, cheap and flavorful. They had many different types of tacos and would like to try different kinds if I ever get a chance to stop back in the future. They had a tripe taco that sounds interesting that would be on my list. So I would recommend you come here for some of the best Mexican food that won't break the bank.

They make a damn fine carnitas super burrito. And their salsas are quite tasty too, especially the jalapeño red salsa.

Can be hit or miss sometimes but overall great place, and great food, only downside is the parking

  • David C.

If you're a Bay Area native you know the choice of taquerias is deep and long no matter what city you live in. In my local SSF area this is hands down the best of the bunch. Never been to Baja but these shrimp tacos are terrific no matter what you're comparing them to. I'll put them up there with the fish tacos from @Sanchos in RWC. And the plus the young guy behind the counter is fantastic, quick, efficient and with a great attitude. A little privcey but well worth it. Only big problem is that parking sucks.

Best Burrito Period!!! Can't go wrong with the super plate burrito w/ Chorizo. I stumbled across this place while in town for interviews at a nearby company; As fate would have it, I got the job and now live blocks away from this Hidden Gem. I dream of this burrito multiple times per week, craving it like a heroin addict who is 2 weeks into rehab. Authentic, phenomenal value, great taste. And oh goodness, I can't forget to mention the green salsa, also known as THE MILK OF THE GODS! Too friggin good. In this area, El Farolito is often regarded as the best burrito, however I'd pick Taqueria San Bruno any day of the week 24/7/365

  • Raymond C.

Ordered a carne asada burrito with everything and a can of Dr. Pepper. Paid by card. Prices are cheaper than a lot of other places. Glad also comes with free chips. The salsa is spicier than I thought, but good thing had my soda. The meat was good. Cool staff.

Best Mexican food I've ever had, hands down. Found this place while waiting for my car at a nearby auto shop, and it's been my go-to burrito spot ever since. I always get the carne asada super burrito and it is AMAZING. The way the burrito is wrapped is also really handy, as it has never once fallen apart on me. The portions are huge, normally I get full off just half and I save the other half for later (and it's just as good as when it was fresh!) The tacos are also delicious here. The salsa bar is amazing, they taste very authentic, homemade, and fresh. Workers are also really friendly! And although the location is not ideal, the place is still much cleaner than many other Mexican joints I've been to throughout the years.

If I get a burrito this is the place it comes from. My order is usually mixed steak and chicken on a wheat tortilla with avocado. The flavors jump out at you from the largely stuffed amazing burrito. This family establishment is hands down the best burrito spot in San Bruno. Trust me I've tried many and finally found one that I can go to over and over and not get sick of there burritos. If you want a burrito and are close by check the place out its awesome

Always excellent. Really good dolks and very friendly. Parking at lunch can be a hit or miss situation.

  • Doug R.

Tacqueria San Bruno doesn't disappoint, delivers huge portions with a taste that will keep you coming back. This place and La Tapatia in South San Francisco deliver the best Mexican food and burritos in the entire 650 San Mateo Coutny area.

  • Irene B.

Taqueria San Bruno is definitely my go-to when I'm craving Mexican and I don't feel like driving to the Mission. I've only tried the tacos ($1.95 each) and the lunch plate ($8.95) which is a HUGE heaping of your choice of meat (you can choose 1 or 2 meats), corn tortillas, rice, and beans. I think this is the best value by far because I can only eat half (hubs can finish it all but is super stuffed), and never disappoints. Carne asada, carnitas (their version is fried pork belly), al pastor, pollo, and lengua are all legit and just depends what mood I am in. The restaurant is small and parking can be hard to come by as it's in an industrial zone, but definitely worth a visit if you happen to be in the area. Friendly customer service and they accept both card and cash. Winner winner Mexican dinner.

  • Fancypants J.

They have a very good "plate burrito" aka web burrito here. Total hole in the wall in a weird location with almost no parking but the food seems worth it. Kept seeing plates go by with extra avocado on top. Will have to try that next time-looked so good!

    (4)
  • Elena and Mike H.

Just a straight up taqueria that delivers quality. Clean, small hole in wall joint. Far better than the nearby El Super Burrito. The steak is good and they offer free guacamole (a little runny) gratis at the salsa bar. Parking is a problem though.

  • Latef X.

What place takes 15+ minutes to make ONE taco to go? The place was somewhat busy, but not THAT busy -- I've been to much busier Mexican joints that still got the food out fast. Vegetarian taco was mediocre, but they slather on this weird artificial-looking green sauce that I think is supposed to be the guacamole? Not really sure if it was the guac but pretty sure that's what it must have been from the description of the dish. The guacasalsa tasted okay though. Their chips were delicious -- kinda thicker and super crunchy. And the salsa bar was yum.

  • Reanne C.

Delicious food at a great price! I always get the super burrito and am never disappointed! The ingredients are so fresh and the burritos are packed with guacamole, sour cream and cheese. The red salsa is also amazing. Its's so spicy and addicting.

  • Alexandra H.

I love this taqueria. It's authentic and it's wonderful. The salsa bar is yummy and the tostadas are delicious but huge!! ....but I'm not complaining! : ) Mmmm, if I could eat here everyday I would. The service is great, the young man working the front counter was very polite and friendly. We will be coming back whenever we are in or near the bay. Yum.

It's been a while since I've been here and I don't remember it ever being this busy. This was my favorite taco place when I was in high school and it's still pretty good. Found in the middle of a ton of auto shops parking seriously sucks. My Mexican food taste is very biased due to me going to school in San Diego for four years, so keep that in mind as you read this because this is one of the better Mexican places you will find in the area which is why it gets four stars. I got two carne asada tacos, an al pastor taco and a carnitas taco. All the meats are charred very well giving them all a good crunch. As for flavor, the meat itself was lacking it. There was sauce, and onions but that does not make up for the meat itself lacking in flavor. The al pastor had the best flavor with its slightly fruity flavor. The carnitas was a little dry but was pretty good quality meat, but as I said before, by itself, it's pretty lacking. These tacos are good when you add the salsas. Four tacos along with the chips and salsa is probably too much for the average person, and it was just a bit too much for me. To sum up, I'm glad this place is now on the map but they could use some pointers from some San Diego taco shops. Either way, still one of the better Mexican joints in the area.

Finally found a consistently good taqueria and it's less than 5 minutes away from work and home. Looks a little deceiving from the outside but definitely the opposite once you taste their food. Never have I tried a fish burrito until yesterday and it didn't disappoint. I've also had their breakfast burritos and super burritos with asada and pastor and quality was superb. I also judge a taqueria by their horchata and it definitely was very good. They only make one batch which I found out the hard way yesterday but they compensated by offering their fresh cantaloupe juice which reminded me of home in the Philippines. The salsa bar is fresh on ice and the service is friendly. I wish they opened pass 9pm for those late night drunk cravings.

I was in the area, looking to have a decent lunch and Yelp directed me to this place and once again, it didn't fail. The taqueria is sandwiched between auto body shops in not the most friendly neighborhood - I was yelled by an body shop owner for my car's tail sticking out to his driveway but it's all good. I'm in good mood thinking about my lunch. Don't get too excited when you think you beat the crowd - they have tons of orders made on the phone which slows down your food being ready. I ordered a shrimp burrito regular as it seems to be highly talked about. I was the only one inside of the restaurant but the food took at least 15min to be ready. And AWWW! It had me at the first bit. I was going to save the half for later but couldn't stop biting it way until it's gone. Generous, tasty shrimps perfectly flavored, so delishh. The place quickly filled up with hungry lunch crowd. It certainly was the really good burrito I'd had in a while. I'm definitely coming back when I'm in the area!

This place by FAR deserves the 4 1/2 stars! I moved from Southern California 6 months ago to Oakland... I have been searching for MONTHS for an authentic Mexican taco restaurant.. And I am pleased to say that I have found it in Taqueria San Bruno. The ambience is what I used to find extremely annoying back in SoCal... But appreciate it here. It's very small but clean! They give you some chips to munch on while you wait and point you to the salsa bar to help yourself. I ordered 4 carne asada tacos with cilantro and onion with a glass bottle jarrito drink... Came to $10 total, at first I was like "holy shit, $10 for only 4 tacos?!?" It seemed a little steep at first... So I was contemplating if I had made a mistake to have eaten here... But I figured I'd give it a fair chance... And OMG I am SOOOO glad I did! The tacos were medium sized with double tortilla, you can tell the tortillas are hand made there, and the meat was EXCELLENT! Overall, I left extremely satisfied and full. Well worth the $10. The clerks were nice and welcoming, will definitely come back again!

    Best Taqueria on the Peninsula!

  • Morgan Z.

This restaurant just served me THE BEST Mexican food I have EVER had! I had the shrimp taco, BBQ pork taco, and fish taco and I couldn't even finish because they were so filling. My boyfriend had the super burrito without beans and it was huge! He is very picky with his burritos and he said that the super burrito deserves 5 stars and was one of the best burritos he has ever had. We will most definitely be back!

    (5)
  • Nina E.

My husband and I love this place! We normally get the plate burrito - one carnitas and the other carne asada. The meat tasted like is was heated up on a griddle, which gave it a crunchy texture. Plenty of different salsas available to choose from.

    (5)
  • Fiona T.

My new favorite place to get tacos and burritos! Love love love their chicken (add cheese) and fish tacos! Just tried their pollo asado and it was yummy! It came with refried beans, rice, fresh avocado and tomatoes. They have a fresh salsa bar where you can get salsa from yourself. They give you free chips if your order is over $6 Place is pretty clean and usually busy. Hard to find parking but worth it! Been trying to come at least once a week for their tacos.

...only thing ridiculous about this place lol is how much food they give u !!! I'm never dissatisfied or leave hungry !! And so cheap :0 its simpy beautiful !!!!

We had low expectation, but it caused we were realy surprised. I ordered Super Burito and it was big and good. And toilets? I haven't seen such clean toilets in any other (cheap) restaurant. They had fresh flowers!

  • Won S.

What a find! The carnitas taco was really crisp yet juicy and the al pastor was so flavorful. And the burrito was well balanced with the meat, beans and rice. The complimentary chips were warm but the salsa bar was under seasoned. The horchata, I liked because it was not overly sweet but my eating buddy thought it was mediocre. I'm looking forward to my return trip and trying one of the plates!

  • Melissa C.

The fish tacos and shrimp tacos are the best! And you cannot beat the price! The staff have always been friendly and even remade my co-workers order one time when it took her longer than expected to pick up her food.

  • Liz D.

I ordered two bean burritos, basically everything on a burrito w/out the meat. I called to put the order in since parking is difficult with the auto shops, I wanted to buy me some time for parking. By the time I got there to pay for the burritos, they were ready for pick up. The woman looked at me as if she didn't know what I was picking up. I said "it's everything on the burrito w/out the meat, a bean burrito" then she went to speak with the man who took my order. I gave her $20.00 to pay for the total, and she didn't seem pleased, unfortunately I only had didn't have enough loose cash. The burrito was good, could have been better. I was excited to try a new place and the yelp reviews impressed me about this place. I liked that they used fresh avocado rather than an avocado spread that some Taqueria's use. Overall, the burrito was good but it didn't wow me as I was hoping so.

  • Tony S.

Great spot near SFO for a tasty bite with friends before they fly away (you're not going to get Mexican food like this outside of Cali or Mexico so savor it before you head back to wherever) or while you're waiting for their delayed flight to make it to the Bay. Everyone working there has been super nice and friendly each time I've stopped by. The veggie burrito is awesome if you're being cautious about throwing down a greasier meaty meal before a long flight. The tacos are always overflowing with your choice of meat. Scoop up those yummy bits with the free chips. Parking can feel a bit sketch but thankfully we've never run into any issues.

  • Leif P.

This is my third time here. it's a great burrito place for me. Always get the crane asada super burrito, and it's delicious. now I am trying pollo. I hope the flavor is as good as the carne.

  • Garrick G.

Best burrito I've had in the Bay Area so far! Hands down beats every taqueria in the mission. Al pastor and lengua super burritos are my go to.

    (5)
  • Malani M.

This place would have been so perfect if they had a parking lot. Finding a place to park kinda sucked because there only seemed to be street parking and of course all the auto shops used them up. Other than that, I was pleasantly surprised. First off I thought it was very smart for them to choose that location knowing that people will want something to eat while they wait for their cars. I thought the staff was really nice and professional and the food was amazing. The free salsa they give you with the free bag of chips was amazing and the lengua burrito was to die for. The food and service was so great that I actually didn't mind the walk I had to take back to my car.

Great place!! Love the super burritos! The salsas are the absolute best I've ever tasted!!! Most Def recommend this place...

Good food. Nice people working here. The service was quite slow despite not seeming especially busy and our order came out staggered over the course of like 10 minutes, which was sort of annoying.

    (3)
  • Ken M.

I have mixed feelings writing a review for this place. I don't want it to get too popular so I don't have to fight crowds to get my burrito. Seriously though, this is my favorite burrito place in Northern California. From the SF Mission to San Jose, this is the place to get a burrito. Well done.

  • Frank H.

Close to work and the plate burritos are the bomb!!! Fresh and delicious salsas are a plus!!! Hidden gem buried among car repair/auto body shops.

Visiting from Houston and yelped a nearby place to the airport. Excellent food. I got some melon water and a carne asada super burrito- absolutely to die for! My husband got horchata and tacos al pastor. He loved both as well. Ezekiel was serving at the counter and was very friendly and threw in one of our flavored waters for free. Great place and will definitely return again.

  • Nikhil R.

Amazing. Little hole in the wall place in an area of San Bruno I would not usually have gone to. The pastor taco was phenomenal, and the carnitas were deliciously crispy. I also got the tiger shrimp taco, which was perfectly charred. They all came drizzled with a green sauce, which I supplemented with several different salsas from the self-serve bar (the green one is the best!). This place has officially become my go-to taco spot.

    (5)
  • Rob C.

some of the best shrimp tacos in the bay. large bay shrimp deliciously pan sautéed with some chili first then topped with the lime onion cilantro. the fish tacos also done the same way, delicious and the al pastor with the perfect slight pineapple sweetness to complement the moist fatty savoriness. made the carne asada taco the least interesting. salsa fresh, airplanes flying overhead

    (5)
  • Qyel V.

Went here based on their yelp reviews and I was definitely not disappointed. Chips were hot and crispy, salsa from the bar was super fresh. Wet burrito, half chicken/ half steak, one of the best i've ever had. Tacos had at least 5x more meat than your average truck taco. Quesadilla was also good but I'd rather have one of their burritos.

    (5)
  • Cesar S.

Wow! Food is amazing. Carnitas tacos are very tasty. Got to love the Super Burrito!! Service was very friendly too!! Will come back for breakfast next time!

Probably the best taqueria in San Bruno. It is hidden, in San Bruno, and most people won't drive by it, luckily I was walking around, waiting for my new tires for my car and stumbled on this place.Their carne asada and pollo asado is so good. They even have a fresh salsa bar. I would rate 5 stars, but kitchen is somewhat slow, and customer service isn't bad but isn't great. Other than that if you don't mind a little wait and can find parking, you're set.

    (4)
  • Eric T.

Definitely one of the best burrito joints in the peninsula! I've ordered the carne asada, shrimp, language burritos during my multiple visits and they've been very consistent in their good flavor and taste. Salsa is definitely good if you like spice and flavor! The place is a like a diamond in the rough hidden w/a bunch of industrial and automotive shops around. The wait is a bit long for the food but definitely worth it!

  • Sunny L.

I'm shocked. There are so many highly-ranked taquerias on yelp for the South Bay that are just mediocre-to-awful; this place is the opposite of that. This place has the most amazing salsas, concentrated with flavor. And the shrimp tacos are some of the most delicious things I've ever had in any taqueria. They taste of fresh, lightly-charred shrimp, and very little else. Avocado is an excellent addition - you'll get big, generous, buttery slices for less than a buck. Don't waste your time on the shrimp burrito; while also very tasty, the beans and other burrito ingredients will interfere with your enjoyment of the shrimp. The al pastor, while good, was a bit too salty/tomatoey for me. But that salsa, and those shrimp tacos. Love. Love. Love.

Went here last night due to reviews and I had the Chicken super burrito and my fiancé had the chicken quesadilla. From my first bite I was like OMG, and my fiancé said his Quesadilla was the best he has ever had and he is extremely picky about food. Maybe it was because I came close to closing, but the guacamole was meh....I did add some lime to it and it was better. I will try the guacamole next time but earlier in the day. This will be my go to spot for Mexican!!!! Glad I tried it here before going to San Fran. Thanks yeppers!!!

From the outside Taqueria San Bruno literally looks like a taqueria that would be somewhere in Mexico which made me super excited to try out the food. We walked in and were pleasantly surprised at how diverse the other customers were and how almost each table was occupied. It was 9pm and this little taqueria is located in between car repair shops. They have an extensive menu that will be sure to confuse you even when you've made up your mind about what to get prior to arriving. I didn't want anything too heavy so we ended up getting 2 fish tacos, 1 special carne asada taco, and 1 special carne asada taco. OMG! They were the yummiest mexican tacos I've had around here. The fish, chicken, and beef were perfectly seasoned. The sour cream and cheese on the beef and chicken tacos made my taste buds dance and sing "this is so bad for you, but oh sooooooooooooooo good". They give you chips and have a salsa bar which all real taquerias must have in my book. Overall good experience when you leave knowing you'll come back and noting what you'd try next.

As if this place needs another excellent review. Found it on yelp and figured I would give it a try. Boy am I glad I did! Camaron a la Diablo was outstanding and so was their regular taco. This has to be the best Mexican food I've ever had... EVER! Lol

Best Guacemole I ever had! Quesadillas delicious. If you see the shop from outside you wouldn't believe that it is so good! 5 stars without regrets!!! Try it!

I was very excited to try a burrito from Taqueria San Bruno after reading many positive Yelp reviews. My girlfriend and I were not impressed. I ordered a chicken super burrito and she got a lengua super burrito. It took a while for our food to come out (at least 20 minutes, probably around 25 minutes). I thought this was alright since it probably meant they were cooking up the meat fresh. My burrito was not that great. Some of the chicken was crunchy and seemed to be burnt. My girlfriend's lengua was cold and chewy. I could go into more detail but overall, it was too long of a wait for very sub-par burritos.

Thank you, yelpers! Visited a friend that just moved to SF and needed a burrito fix off the plane. Farolito was too far... so what to do? Yelp. Duh. We pulled up to the place thinking, "hmmm, I hope the rental car will be safe" But once I hit up that Pastor Burrito and Asada Taco, I thought to myself "if they take the car it was worth it." I visited SF during the memorial day weekend and this again was the first stop off the plane. Same feelings, same result. Rec's: Pastor Burrito, Fish Tacos, and Salsa Salsa Salsa! (Salsa Verde was my fav though) Cannot wait to visit again since I know exactly what I will have getting off the plane!

Great flavors but alot of stuff on my tacos which resulted in them both breaking and me just eating the meat..that was irritating esp because I felt that I spent $8 for some meat. It's funny though because as a consumer, I dont want them to skimp on the meat but too much meat + the other stuff they added, just made it to heavy for my shells :( I'll give them the benefit of the doubt though and go back to try again soon!

Visited last night for the first time while I was hungry as hell with the boyfriend. I don't live around the Bay Area, but he does. According to him, every Taqueria he's tried in his area so far, they've messed up his order and the food wasn't good. My bf is allergic to guacamole/avocado and the other places put that stuff in his meal even when he would repeat himself for them not to. Anyways, we got to this place and be only downside is, it's super tiny and the parking was horrible outside. I would've never thought there's be a restaurant here at this location lol. We both got the super burrito with chicken. I specifically asked for no guacamole on one because he was allergic and to mark it on the wrapper as well. When our order was finally ready, the guy pointed out the burrito that had been clearly marked and was the employee was kind with us the whole time. It kinda took a while to get our food, but hey, if it's authentic, it'll actually take time to cook :) Added some Tapatio sauce and the burrito was super bomb! Delicious I would say. My boyfriend enjoyed it too (he could actually eat it this time)! All the ingredients inside were mixed together well. It wasn't all pushed to one side like Chipotle's burritos can be. And the tortilla is actually crisp! They must toast it on the for a bit. Super yummy. I believe for our two burritos, it was about $16. I'll definitely be coming back though!

THE BEST MEXICAN PLACE IN THE AREA HANDS DOWN!!! I highly recommend this place but the only thing that is a turnoff is the parking. Their burritos and tacos are so good - so good that it'll make you wanna slap ya mama!! Their carnitas is my favorite!! Their al pastor is succulent and tasty yet not greasy- I have also tried their carne asada. I always get great service here and they have salsa bar with awesome tasting red sauce. I love this place and you will too.

Please do not let the building persuade you from going here... The food is great and reasonably priced. Frankly some of the best shrimp tacos I have ever eaten. The only issue is parking, but once you can find a spot, be ready for some awesome food.

Excellent taqueria. The place may not look like much from the outside but the quality of their food is even very good. I love their fish tacos. The fish is grilled with spices and the fresh chips and spicy salsas always hit the spot for a quick bite when in the neighborhood. Highly recommend for a quick, high quality, low cost meal.

Awesome place! My boyfriend and I were looking for a closer taqueria since we used to go to La Corneta in the city. We just stumbled upon this place and they haven't disappointed! Their al pastor burritos are absolutely amazing and the salsa and chips are so fresh and great! Always coming here when craving some good burritos!

  • Jackie M.

I live in south city so I have pretty great taquerias in the area (celayas and la morena) I've been hearing this place is one of the best places around, I usually go to the mission district after 10pm when I'm craving tacos just because the ones in south city close early but this has become my new favorite taqueria. The tacos were delicious and the horchata one of the best in San Bruno and So. City .. I've been craving the tacos here since last week when I left from there. I didn't like the super tacos with the cheese, just didn't go right with tacos but the regular tacos can't go wrong with that. Only issue is this place is so popular but not enough parking you have to find parking on the next streets, which maybe is a good thing after your leaving the place with a full tummy. Walk it off!

  • Maggy G.

So happy I found this place and happier to know it's so close by to where I live! I got 2 shrimp tacos and 1 fish taco. Quality was fantastic and they hella hook it up! I found this mom and pop joint through yelp and as you could see the majority of the reviews are high. Only one person (uptight) gave it 3 stars because basically they hook it up to much. Oh come on! Yeah it (taco) fell apart on me too but I can't be ungrateful. Shrimp is very expensive but they don't skim on that. I say they give a generous amount and so I'm happy! Gracias!

After moving to the Bay Area from the UK at the end of 2012, I had my eyes opened to the world of Burrito's. (Sadly we don't have them back home - I know! What's the point of living with a burrito in your life!?). I would always drive from San Bruno to Taqueria San Jose on Mission & 24th in SF... But then I came across Taqueria San Bruno and for the past 2 years they have been consistently delicious! I often find that the quality of burrito depends on who actually makes the burrito and certain places clearly have the chef who can and the chef who can't. This place however, has the chef who dedicated his life to the worthy cause of burrito making! The portions of rice/beans/sour cream/guac/meat are spot on. It's wrapped perfectly (unlike the sloppy loose meat wraps I often get from chipotle!) and the Carnitas / Carne Asada are cooked to perfection. Take yourself, your wife/mistress, dog, hell, even your mother in law - they'll all be overcome with joy! Word of warning - their salsa bar offers pretty spicy versions of the standard pico & salsa verde which only serves to make everything better!

This place is an absolute hole in the wall amongst a bunch of auto body shops. Heck, the industrial filth filling the cracks of the street, the lack of coherence between buildings and how packed everything is especially with the cars, it looks like a typical day from another country here. And the taqueria thus actually fits into the scene perfectly. Parking is a hassle. There are no lots and the curb is typically blocked by a car or red paint. The deco inside the restaurant is a rich miss-mash as well, sort of a continuation of the theme outside that made it blend in so well. The ceiling felt low. Pictures of menu items are right on the wall The salsa bar choices are excellent. And the burrito that I got tastes great as well- it wasn't dry and the sour cream mixed well with the meat so that every bite was a little different and nothing was too spicy at any point. The one thing that sets this place apart is that they grill the burrito here as well. Yes, it's not a unique thing, but many places don't do this either.

Great fresh tacos which are worth the wait and parking challenge in this off the beaten path part of San Bruno. I am a taco truck fan but this is better than a taco truck! Liked - fish tacos - chicken tacos - green salsa, actually all of the salsas - hole in the wall character So so - slight wait for the food - parking

I found this place from yelp and decided to give it a try on my way to school. I have to say this place is good! It reminds me of restaurants down by San Diego, my hometown. I ordered three different tacos lengua, Carne asada, and shrimp. The tacos had so much meat they were hard to hold without it falling out. This place doesn't skimp on their portions. The shrimp taco is a bit pricey but it makes sense since sea food is typically more expensive. The seasoning for the shrimp was amazing and the salsa complemented the tacos very well. Warning: the salsa is a bit spicy, which is perfectly ok with me considering I love everything spicy. If you aren't very use to spicy food it might be better to ask for it on the side. The people were friendly and you could see that many of them were regulars since they were recognized by the employees. Additionally they give you free chips and have an awesome salsa bar. This place has tons of options and sells beer. Will definitely be coming back again.

Great little place off the beaten path. Flew into San Francisco and got a craving for Mexican food. Got the super shrimp burrito and they aren't lying about the super part. One of the best burritos I've eaten! They also had a salsa bar which was cool. Staff was really friendly and welcoming! This may be a hole in the wall but don't judge a business by its building, they know what they are doing. For all the travelers staying near the airport and are looking for some good food and relaxed atmosphere I definitely recommend this place!

This place is gross! You could tell cuz it's such a hole in the wall in the middle of industrial San Bruno. Pretty much caters to the people who live around the block and the workers on the strip. So I ordered the shrimp & carne asada super burrito as recommended by Yelp reviewers. When I brought it home, the carne asada was burnt, the shrimp was super salty and my OILY burrito just had beans and rice w/ a sprinkle of cheese and sour cream. Where's the pica de gallo and guacamole?? This order took 20 minutes too. Why?? I was saving myself a trip to La Corneta in Burlingame but I made the biggest mistake. Never going here again! Yelp failed me this time...

I wanted to try a new Mexican restaurant. My brother recommended it and the yelp reviews are really high. Can't go wrong, right? It's located in the industrial part of San Bruno. It's a small place. Roughly 12 person capacity. I ordered to go because I was concerned I wouldn't have a seat. When I came by to pick it up at 7, there was a couple of seat's available. Ordered the carne asada burrito and chicken soft taco. I always order all my burrito very basic. Meat, rice and salsa. This burrito is good. The ingredients are fresh. The meat is good and the salsa is on point. This burrito falls short when compare to the king, LaTapatia. While the meat is good, it doesn't match the flavor and marinated steak of Latapatia. The next item was the Chicken soft taco. Comes with chicken, onion, light salsa, cilantro and small tortilla. Now this is the star of the dinner. The taste of that grilled chicken is great. That grilled taste can't be beat. I wanted to give it a 5 stars but the burrito falls short. But the chicken tho. The yelp reviews have a majority of chicken dishes. I'm going to give this place another shot..BUT to dine in. I need to try these dishes fresh rather than to go. Expect a follow up review soon, SON.

Carne Asada nachos Shrimp quesadilla Salsa bar Side of rice - wow, garlicky. You can't go wrong with this place. Very nice portions - the nachos were very generous with the steak. The shrimp quesadilla was packed with fresh shrimp. Great little salsa bar. We ordered a side of rice for my little one (because that's how he is), and while he liked the rice, it was extremely heavy handed with garlic. I personally didn't like it, but my son ate about half the order.

Ridiculously good in a hole-in-the-wall setting. We had fish tacos, shrimp tacos, and a carne asada burrito con camerones. Everything tasted awesome! Hard to describe, but the flavors were somehow different--yet delicious--compared to all other Mexican dishes I've had in recent memory.

I have a standard when I visit a taqueria for the first time; three tacos of carnitas, al pastor and asada. Based on these meats I could become a regular. During a later visit I discovered the milanesa torta is unnoteworthy. Particularly because the cutlet was tough and it was missing Mexican cheese that in my mind is required on tortas.

  • Joanna S.

I had the caldo de camaron, and it was perfect for the cold weather. It was full of shrimp, with a little rice and onion. I typically prefer a little bit veggies in my soup, but it was very satisfying the way it was. Unlimited chips and delightful salsas while we waited for the soup to be prepared. Will definately come back again.

Went out of our way to come to this very authentic, quality place. Excellent service, lots of tables and chairs, and most importantly, AMAZING burritos. The meat is succulent, juicy, and uber flavorful. I had a regular burrito with half pollo half carne asada. The rice was the perfect texture, and there was the perfect balance of rice:meat:beans. Incredible salsa choices as well and chips are ok (too full to eat anyway!). I'll be back next time I want a burrito, even though it's 25 minutes away from my house!

Get the tacos you can't go wrong, there so good, try different variety, I personally like the carne asada and cabeza. The only problem is the place can be packed because it's quite small and parking can also be a problem but I'd go back in a heartbeat.

Excellent tacos. I come here on Wednesdays because I have a client nearby. Which is to say I have lots of clients all over the bay area. And i visit tacos places all over... it's my favorite lunch. This place has by far the best shrimp tacos in the Peninsula, the service is great. Even the customers are great every Wednesday. I tried the Camerones al Diabla for dinner once. Not that great but lots of places make it different so I can't really speak to the way it's made here. I just didn't enjoy it. They didn't skimp on the shrimp though. The problem is no easy parking. Park in the red zone and you'll get a ticket 1 out of every 4 times. That's my experience. So in summary, for good shrimp tacos you can't go wrong here.

Pretty much the top 3 Mexican spots on the planet for me. Having lived next to Pomona ... where the other spots are ... Patty's and Los Jaritos ... for over a decade ... this Nor Cal spot definitely takes the cake! Favorites are the Carnitas and Fish! Carne Asada is awesome also.

How have I missed this place?? I noticed yelpers love this place, so I decided to give it a try after work today since I had a hankering for some authentic Mexican. I drove down San Mateo Avenue looking for it, but it is in a strange location. You have to cross San Bruno Avenue. It's in a little, unassuming building right across from Skypark. You might miss it if you weren't looking. Luckily, I was able to flip a u-turn and park in 20 minute parking right out front. There weren't a whole lot of places to park--there's a few 20-minute parking spaces right out front, street parking across the street, and a tiny, tiny parking lot right next door. I noticed others say TSB is in the hood... that's a little excessive--it's more industrial. When I walked in, I was surprised to find customers watching soccer. Interesting considering the Warriors are playing in the semi-finals, and the hockey play-offs are also in full force. Lots of old dudes cussing in Spanish. Lucky for me, I happen to know all of the bad words in Spanish. I ordered to-go so I could hustle and get to yoga. I ordered two fish tacos and a side of rice and beans. I think these are the best fish tacos I have ever had. My goodness--the fish was perfectly cooked and perfectly seasoned. The tacos come garnished with cilantro, onion and hot sauce. And there was SO much fish on the taco--well worth the $10 I paid for it. Much to my chagrin, I forgot to get salsa to-go from the salsa bar. It wasn't that big of a deal though, because the tacos really didn't need it. The woman who took my order was nice. I wasn't paying attention when my order came up, and she walked it out to me. I don't know why the hours aren't posted on yelp, but they aren't. Open 9 a.m. until 9 p.m. (I called ahead to make sure they were open). I'm a big fan!

We found this place just outside SFO, so we popped in to check it out. Everything was made to order. I had the pescado torta, with fresh, seasoned tilapia and lettuce, tomato, avocado and onions. My husband had three tacos: pescado, bbq pork and carnitas. All three were fresh and tasty. In addition, we had chips and salsa and some spicy pickled vegetables from a small condiment bar. Our beers complimented the meal well and the price was very reasonable for the quality. We would definitely recommend this taqueria!

Loved the... -Lengua taco. I also had the taco especial but it was too much cheese for me. -Camaron burrito. Nice and juicy. The size and amount of shrimp was a plus too. -Salsa bar Will definitely come back. Parking can be a little tough.

I love eating Mexican food. I live around San Bruno, so I frequent different Mexican restaurants in the area. My favorites are Arujo's and the Roach Coach (aka Chow truck) right across from Chili's on El Camino. It was my first time eating at Taqueria San Bruno. I have passed by that restaurant many times before and heard several things about it, but never bothered to stop by a try it. Maybe it was because it was such a small dingy looking establishment. Honestly, from the outside it looks like a place crack heads and alcoholics would hang out and hookers would sit inside looking for a trick to turn. But upon entering, the place is decently clean and the workers are professional. Usually, I'm used to the one taking my order to not be so good in speaking English. But here he was speaking perfect English to me. I ordered the carne asada super burrito, and, mmmmmmm it was GOOD!!!. This was the best damn burrito I had in a long time. You have all kinds of people entering to eat at this establishment, from Asians, to whites, white collared corporate people, and, of course, Mexicans. This is my new favorite Mexican restaurant.

I come here for the tacos and maybe some rice. They have an assortment of other options like burritos, quesdillas, several plate choices, but I come here again just for the tacos 2 carnitas (pork), and 2 tripa (I want to say similar to tripe/instestines) tacos and a side of rice, I have tried there lengua (tongue), cabeza (head meat of cow), pescado (fish), camaron (shrimp) and all the other meats offered all of them a good portion wise never had a problem getting full at this place 4 tacos by themselves pretty much full meal side of rice is just to put you over to coma status after your meal carnitas - taste deep fried because on that first and second bite there is a crunch to it, green salsa, cilantro, onions etc, that crunch though everyone should experience a taco like that tripas - wouldn't say this is an exotic meat but being filipino and liking tripe or intestine is kinda goes hand in hand, to some folks they say it is disgusting, then when you had it, it was probably made incorrectly this place makes it right, no gritty taste, chewy and flavorful seasoned with green sauce, cilantro and tomatoes diced this place is in the industrial section of Sand Bruno you can see Tanforan off to the side if you can see above the businesses, more or less this is one of the spots I relatively hit up weekly, sometimes during the weekend the wait varys sometimes 2 minute wait sometimes 20 min wait depends on day and how busy they are, but they always serve good food. food ***** one of the better taco spots in the pennisula price $ cheaper if not standard $1.85 regular meats like carnitas, carne asada $2.25 for pescado, camarones, tripas service **** ambiance **** definitely one of the spots that you will not forget, murals on all the walls, some custom drawings of cartoons in panchos, look for the homer simpson, spongebob, etc characters all portrait all mean mugging hahaha

I was dissapointed with this place. Staff was not friendly, they seemed to mumble to you when you spoke to them. Food was bland and overcooked and it took ages to get to our table. The rice and beans tasted like they came out of a can and the shrimp felt life I was biting into an eraser. Not worth the price. This place is overrated.

Stopped here after picking my brother up from airport as a diversion from waiting in rush traffic. With some time to burn, why not get tacos? We yelped around the airport for food, and this came up. Glad we gave it a try. Both of us had really delicious burritos. Their salsas are flavorful (but spicy, be warned). Service was fast and nice. I'd go here again if I was out by SFO and trying to avoid traffic for a bit :)

One of the best burritos I have ever had! Their carne asada is well seasoned. They give you the perfect ratio of the ingredients. I love that it's also a little bit crispy. Perfect every time I get it. It does take a little bit to come out but I don't mind. They cook the meat fresh so it's not just sitting there waiting to be served. They have homemade salsa which I love as well. They give you free chips and salsa if you're eat there. It's a super tiny restaurant that is hidden. Parking is kind of hard to find too. It's just whatever you find along the streets. The place is usually empty when my boyfriend and me go here so you don't have to worry about a line. I would definitely recommend this place if you're looking for a to go spot. They never disappoint!

  • robin b.

Very good, but very slow if you get a to go order. I would highly recommend calling before to order your food - otherwise it can take from 30-40 mins to get your food (this has been my wait time multiple times for 1 lunch plate order).

  • Karolyn S.

By far the best taqueria in the area! They offer more meat choices than just the typical steak and chicken. It is a hole in the wall joint but the food is amazing as well as the people who work here. It's a plus that they serve legit chelada in which I will try when I find time to just eat in. The place is always packed everytime I have come in, which is always a good sign of how good their food is, and there may be a wait to get your order, but after one bite it is totally forgivable. But this place does come with a warning: parking may be a bit of a struggle. Other than that uncontrollable aspect, this place is AMAZING!

One of my favorite burrito places, other than Pink Elephant Deli in San Jose (you will never find it on yelp.) Their burritos are great, good flava on the meat, accept card (which is a +1,) too bad I can't give this place a 6/5. Good salsa bar, and they give you chips with your order. Another plus, the workers speaks some damn good English here, so there will be no miscommunication problems unlike some of the other Mexican joints I've been to. This I dislike about this place is the restroom; it's not dirty per se, but it's very small. I mean, you need to be the size of Linsey Lohan pre-rehab in order to barely squeeze in that box. I also saw a Vietnamese straw hat placed on a table before; I thought it was weird (maybe placed for decoration, perhaps?) They also have a lovely portrait of Homer and Bart Simpson very Hispanic-ed out, as well as some other cat (literally cat, as I can't identify this creature.) If anyone can identify the characters on that portrait, please let me know.

Damn you Taqueria San Bruno! Damn you! Despite my anger at not being able to get a burrito since you were closed (when your sign said you were open) I keep coming back. Why can't anyone else in San Bruno make a good burrito? Then I could quit you... Cheers!

I really like the super burrito here. I usually get the pollo and I like the pollo here. I would go here after my anxiety classes because they were in San Bruno.

What a hole in a wall turned hidden gem! My coworker told me about this place, so my husband and I decided to check it out. I also noticed that they had great yelp reviews! If you come here... You have to get their horchata! It's probably the best one I've ever had!! The guy working the register told me that his mom makes it fresh everyday! Well mom.. Your recipe is amazing!! As for the burritos, they were good too! We didn't feel like they skimped out on anything in our burritos and they were a good size. We'll be coming back for sure.. Especially for the horchata!!

After many years of searching for decent food in San Bruno I have finally found the gem!!! I ordered the wet carnitas burrito and let me tell you, it was the best burrito I've ever had. The carnitas was so crunchy on the outside and tender on the inside. I've never found a place that can make carnitas perfect until now. Friendly service, clean, tasty fresh food, awesome salsa bar and the price is reasonable. Parking is a bit tricky but believe me it's so worth it.

I would give it 6 stars for food freshness and quality. I had their Carne asada tacos, and they were absolutely fresh and delicious. Lots of great salsa choices. This isn't a fancy place: it is well kept and friendly, but they clearly put all their energy in their food, not decor or fancy pants. Just like an authentic family Mexican spot should be.

Given what's around in terms of Mexican food this place is it! You have to get the shrimp burrito, so good, I only get it regular cause I feel all the add ons would distract from the taste. Their carnitas tacos are so flavorful and cooked with pineapple, giving it just the right amount of sweet and delicious! Kinda ruined carnitas for me anywhere else I go! Finally their chorizo taco is so delicious, sometimes chorizo has too strong a taste and theirs is not overpowering, just the perfect amount of yum. I would opt for any of those over carne asada which is good but the others just pack in a lot more dynamic flavors! The only con is that I feel like they always take longer than I think they will but I'm always so happy with the quality of my food that maybe it's a good thing they take a bit of time! I've come here for to go orders and with groups, staff is very chill. Oh parking is difficult but you will always find something eventually!

The food was authentic and delish. I had a fish taco and a shrimp taco. My son had the carne Asada and my hubby had the lengua burrito no complains both hubby and son loved their food. I would most differently go back to this resturant. The service a great and the price was right. Sorry didn't get a chance to take any pictures because my family in hailed their food.

From the exterior, this place looks like a mistake. Clearly this divey looking joint doesn't deserve all of the 4 and 5 star ratings..... Wrong. This is a great place for burritos, Mexican sandwiches and similar fare. They serve ENORMOUS delicious burritos, tortas (Mexican sandwiches) and tacos. They have a self service salsa bar as well. They do a a lot of business out of this small funny looking joint. It really hops. One taste of the food and you will know why. Prices are very reasonable and a great place to take the kids. This is an A plus place to go. One hint at how good it is is to look at the clientele. A combination of local Central Americans/Mexicans and other folks who work for the airlines at SFO. Gardeners and 747 pilots go elbow to elbow for this great food.

Yelp reviews led me to this place and it didn't disappoint. ...nice family owned place and the food is excellent. ..haven't explored anything past burritos yet but if the other food is as good as they are I'm a happy camper. ..it's a lil small inside and cramped but the food is on point

Seedy side of San Bruno next to the airport parking lots and auto shops hides this little gem. It is always a treat to come to Taqueria San Bruno. I tried not to come during the busy hours as the wait times can be over 15 minutes. The thing that keeps me coming back is the authentic flavors.

  • Suzanne R.

I was super impressed with this spot. My boyfriend and I wanted grab some Mexican food and a few beers before going to the airport (this spot was 3 min from SFO!), and Taqueria San Bruno was perfect. I agree with the other reviewers that the outside / location looks a little sketchy, but that actually made me like this place better. Food was delicious -- we just got tacos (my favorites were the grilled chicken, shrimp, fish, and al pastor) and chips/salsa (their salsa verde was fantastic!). And service was great too.

Just had the best fish tacos ever!so fresh, cooked perfectly made with the perfect amount of cilantro!the beans and rice are right also, the rice doesn't have any peas & carrots which is perfect!my bf got the carne asada burrito and he thought it was perfectly made, some crispy parts thrown in & deliciously moist!this place is definitely a hidden gem among industrial buildings.a little tough to find parking but so worth it when you do!

Taqueria San Bruno is perfect. It's everything a Taqueria should be. Dark, small, in a bad neighborhood, but serves the most AMAZING BURRITOS. Being born and raised in California, I have eaten hundreds of burritos in my lifetime, but this place is the absolute BEST. Thank you Taqueria San Bruno.

  • Adamson C.

The outside appearance of this Taqueria doesn't justify how good the food and cleanliness is here! Came here while getting my car fixed. I wasn't sure at first, but I'm glad I came in! The salsa bar has a great selection of fresh, authentic salsas and my super steak burrito was deliciously satisfying! Overall, food was amazing, good service, clean eating environment. 5 stars from me! Not to mention the guy working the register is hot.

  • Lisa F.

Wow.WOWWW. so delicious. I could not stop smiling. Ordered the wet super burrito with carnitas. Chunks of oh-so tender, juicy and flavorful pork with tiny bits of crunchy carnitas. Comes with all the goods and whole pieces of avocado so you know it's legit. Cant wait to come back!

Come hungry...super nice people here. Three big plates for the four of us and we still couldn't finish it. The guys are super nice which makes a big difference since everyone loves customer service as well as good food. We had steak and chicken fajitas and carnitas enchilada. Kids ate all of that and wanted more. That makes me happy when kids want more:) There are many selections and we will def come back to try the others. Its not a big place so if it's crowded, you will be out of luck with seating. We ended up with a table close to the bathroom door:( At least people remember to close it after they were done. Come for the food, it's worth it.

A few years ago we tried to find this place after seeing the positive reviews on Yelp. To our demise, the GPS led us astray and we ended up giving up finding it and just going somewhere else. Upon our search for tasty Mexican food locally, we were led again to Taqueria San Bruno...only this time we easily found it! (And thank god we did!) My husband and I ordered carne asada super burritos-which were super tasty! Just the right amount of rice, beans, meat, and guacamole. Not to mention all of the spicy salsas- we couldn't choose our favorite because they were all so good! The kids ordered a quesadilla, a torta, and a taco, which they all enjoyed. We spent somewhere in the $40 range for a family of six (including drinks). So glad we finally found this delicious Mexican restaurant so close by!

I found this place through yelp, so thank you yelpers! Like the other reviews this place looked sketchy from the outside, but the reviews said the food was yummy. The food is great! I had a regular carne asada burrito with sour cream and it was really good! It was not greasy or heavy at all, which I really appreciate! Ingredients were fresh and they were not skimpy on any of the ingredients. The place was busy on a Sunday afternoon, but we got there at a good time and were able to get a table. The service was friendly and our food came out quickly. The fresh pineapple agua (juice) was tasty and not too sweet. I was looking at other people's plates and everything looked delicious. I definitely want to try some of their other items. My only con is that they only have 1 TV near the register so the many people standing in line were blocking the TV. But this is not too much of a big deal. I will be back and I recommend this place!

I think they changed owners or something. We used to come here once a week, and even catered from them for our sons birthday party. Went back last week and the food quality has noticeably deteriorated. I got the steak and shrimp burrito and my wife got the super burrito - the usual. It tasted dry, they tried to charge for chips/salsa, and the catering is now different. Have not been back since, prefer to go to El Super Burrito on El Camino or Los Metates in South San Francisco. Officially taking this off my Yelp bookmark list and I think you should as well.

Another gem found only because of Yelp! The tiny taqueria is situated between several auto body shops. The parking is a bit challenging, but don't let that stop you from experiencing truly delicious and authentic Mexican food! I thoroughly enjoyed the Carne Asada Super Burrito. The tortilla was warm and just the right kind of chewy. The steak was tender and had just the right amount of char to make it slightly crispy. Fresh homemade salsas and complimentary chips round out this fantastic meal. I will certainly be back when I'm in the area!

Seriously... these tacos are pretty great! Stopped over there to pick up some lunch to take out. I got there areound 11:50 - no line and only 4 ppl inside. Parking, yes is a pain, but whatever I found one. Order three tacos: Chorizo Carne Asada Veggie with no rice The chorizo cooked to perfection and not overly greasy yet had a great crunch. So good!!! The carne asada needed to be marinated longer - it didn't have a strong taste, but food none-the-less The veggie taco.. I like getting one veggie to pick at and add to my other taco's!!! The beans were really good! Seasoned just right. The taco itself could have used a bit of salt. The hot carrots - meh. They were good but I think it was missing oregano or something. The green salsa - I can't decide The thick red salso -- I can't decide the verdict isn't in The picco de gallo -- meh... kinda bland But overall, the taco's were great!!! All for only $7.28 Glad I tried it! Will be back for lunch.

When I'm in the mood for some truly authentic Mexican food I will gladly drive 35 minutes out of my way just to eat at this glorious establishment. I have tried all the meats they offer here and they are all delicious, but the carne Asada is my favorite.

I went here because it had a pretty good rating. That was a joke! First of all, the service sucked and the food was worse. My family and I went on a week day and it wasn't crowded, but they took a long time to serve us. I'm thinking, the food must be good. Well, I ordered the enchilada and it was dry and salty. It was just topped with cheese and no sauce! Really?! My wife ordered the Melanesa and it was dry and burnt. My boys ordered the burrito del lengua and it was the worst lengua we've ever had. I never thought one can mess up lengua, but these people did. Needless to say, we're never coming back.

LA transplant living in SF and no offense but the mexican food up in the Bay Area sucks compared to LA I've been on a MISSION to find some comparable mexican food up here having lived down in LA for 10 yrs and still can't find a place. I've been to ALL of the known places in the mission district to east oakland to east san jose and etc. Even parts of the Peninsula too. Well, I found a pretty good place here. I say this would be a 7.5 on a LA scale. Maybe even a 8. What's good? Their tacos are very good. Al Pastor and Carnitas are the go to. Asada is pretty good. The tacos are filling and the sauce is simple and easy. Cilantro, onions and that is it, which is very similar to the taqueria's in LA. San Bruno Taqueria is one of the few places up here that doesn't put beans or other stupid filling stuff in their taco. I want a taco, not a mini burrito! The burritos here are okay. I always go for the tacos. Enjoy!

This is one of the best taqueria in San Mateo county , it's a cozy hole in the wall , very traditional and family owned and operated since day one , everything is fresh and obviously delicious , the staff is quick and very friendly awesome place.

Hands down my favorite burrito spot ever! This is a pretty tall order considering the number and variety of burritos I've had over the years throughout the Bay Area. The carne asada is my standard benchmark for a burrito, and this place does it just right. Full of flavor and cooked with perfect amount of sear. The carnitas are crispy and delicious without being too greasy. The staff is very friendly to boot. I'm lucky to live so close to such an amazing place, but this place is definitely worth the drive.

This is it. I can literally say that ive had one of the best burritos of my life here. The chicken is so quality and so is every ingredient. Something made me want to try the carne asada today and it was above and beyond!!! Its like how my grandma use to cook when i was younger.. So it brings back good memories of real authentic mexican food. This was an experience, the location is a little weird and hardly any parking but really who cares. Seriously, Ive been here 3 times and been going to so many taquerias to find the best one. Taqueria San Bruno is my go to!! I dont even live that close lol. Free chips and salsa (also amazing). I think its open 9am-9pm everyday not sure if its closed during any days but WOW. Still thinking about it. Not overly priced. Just go!!!!!!!!!!! Ahhh!!!!!!!!! Edit: its hard finding parking here. There are times when there will literally be NO parking on the street this is most likely due to the overabundance of auto shops in the area. I have left being right by this place due to this problem and its frustrating since I dont live that close. It seems a better time to go is later in the afternoon as opposed to lunch time, just a heads up.

My husband and I love TSB! We come here at least once a week - it's that good! Service is quick and food comes out hot and ready to be devoured. Our favorite dishes are as follows: 1. Fish tacos (best ever): healthy serving of fish, right amount of spice, slightly crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. 2. Wet burrito (half crispy carnitas and half carne asada steak): just go and try this beast! Caution - well crafted to perfection and feeds two. All I can say is the ratio of tortilla, to meat, to rice, to cheese, to sauce, is consistently on point every time. 3. Tacos al pastor & lengua: the combination of meat kicks ass. You get crispness from the pork and added flavor and dimension from the lengua. Get it! Chips and salsa are delicious too! All done.

  • Ana D.

Steak was marinated deliciously!! Ordered Steak Quesadilla and everything was good. Guac tastes fresh but not green? So it's less of an avocado taste.. I just wish they'd put the sour cream and avocado in the quesadilla instead of on the side. Overall fast and good service.

At least once a week, I have to perform plant inspections at Central Concrete. In the past when I have forgotten my lunch, I have felt pretty much 'S.O.L'. One day, I got smart and decreed that it was time to use my darn phone to locate some local (delicious) eats. That search brought me down the street to Taqueria San Bruno. I am NOT sorry, let me tell you! First visit, I got the chicken burrito - charbroiled chunks of chicken breast greeted me upon my first bite. There was NO 'mystery meat' in that bad boy! After that, I was sold... Last visit, I went with the chicken soft tacos: YUM! I am also a huge fan of their salsa bar. Has a little something for everyone, but I love the fact that they cater to us 'hot and spicy' lovers (thanks, guys!). Pros: Great food at a great price (big portions too!!!) Cons: minimal parking and busy during lunch hours * Don't let the semi sketchy area turn you off... it's in an industrial zone, so do not act shocked when you come to realize this ;) Conclusion: if you're looking for fresh, authentic Mexican food, this place is a gem!

This place is legit. I was picking up my SO from the San Bruno bart and wanted to grab some grub before we went home. Took a look on yelp while in the waiting area and saw TSB show up. Great reviews so I needed to check it out myself. The reviews did not steer me wrong. Like everyone says, there is not much parking around but I did end up getting one of the 2 spaces in front. The area is not that hoodish. It's just in an area with car shops etc so not the typical thoroughfare for a restaurant. Ended up getting a super burrito with al pastor, 2 fish tacos and 1 tongue taco. Like other reviews say it takes 10-15 minutes for your food so you know they are cooking it up fresh. Seems like you can call ahead to pick up since I saw a lady walk in and just grab an order to go. Good idea if you want to avoid the wait. They even had a tv with the giants game on and they sell beer if you were looking at grabbing a seat. For the food. The pastor was juicy and moist. The flavor was really good and either is mixed with roasted peppers or they have a salsa with that. One of the best pastor burritos I have ever had. Although the place in Cabo was probably the best. The fish tacos were grilled fish and had good flavor and you get a lot of meat. The tongue also tasted pretty good. I jut grabbed a bite of each from my SO. We will definitely be back. Food is tasty, portions are good and the price is not crazy. One of the top Taqueria's in the Bay. I gotta make a list or something sometime.

I've been to this place twice now, once at night and once in the afternoon. During the day parking is difficult at best since this must the the ONLY non-auto related business for at least a three block radius. At night, parking is a little easier to come by, HOWEVER, the area seems sketchier than an A-ha video (YouTube it). I gotta say the food was good enough to warrant a return visit, and I anticipate more visits in the future. I had the plate burrito which was big and tasty. It is still no substitute for burrito express but it is a lot closer, and with a few tweaks (adding avocado, blend of cheese) may get better. The plate burrito is a "wet style burrito" served marinating in what seemed like a thick seasoned beef broth. It has sour cream, beans, cheese (one type), rice?, and your choice of meat. I always get steak on my burritos because as Archer would say "I don't have a vagina". The steak is flame broiled (true carne asada baby), which is always appreciated. The chips appear to be store bought and are a bit salty, but they have several types of sauces available that are made in-house and are quite tasty.

If you're hungry enough to eat a horse come here and order a grilled chicken burrito. Moist, well flavored and huge! It's the only thing I order when I come here and I still never get sick of it.

I give this place a 2.5 stars. I ordered the wet burrito and the cheese in the burrito was not melted. It was like luke warm. Wtf? The burrito tasted ok but this just ruined the whole experience. Sorry

I have been working in the San Bruno area for the past couple weeks and have visited Taqueria San Bruno twice. It really is a hole in the wall kind of place surrounded by a lot of auto body shops and the like. I got the super burrito with carnitas the first time and with chicken the second time. The food was delicious, it is exactly what a burrito should be: simple and to the point. They have fantastic salsa choices and always has futbol on the TV.

truly a diamond in the rough... car repair shop, car repair shop, car repair shop, taqueria...wth?? had the pleasure of seeing this little place tucked away next to my mechanics shop. do they use motor oil on their stove? NO WAY! one of the best burritos i've had in a long time. the rice was fluffy and not dry. the meat [carne asada] was flavorful but not overly salty. the tortilla didnt flop around and was not full of oil like most places. the salsa....my oh my...perfect amt of chil and heat. DO NOT PASS THIS UP! it took slightly longer than usual to make - only 1 person ahead of me, no take outs in sight - so that is my only knock. about 30 min actually. good things come to those who wait.

  • Ariel N.

I'm so glad I found this place. Before this, my favorite taqueria was el farolito on mission. But here's to new favorites! Being one of those super picky eaters, I eat the plainest burrito ever. I usually get the chicken super burrito. The chickens superr good. I know a lot of places use like boiled chicken? Nobody likes that. They use grilled chicken and its so good! We've also had the tacos. The pork and fish tacos are bombbb. The only down side is that they do take some time to make the food. But it's so worth the wait.

My coworkers and I came here to eat because we were really craving taco stand style food and this place doesn't disappoint! It feels a bit sketchy and scary at night, but the staff was great and we felt at home really quickly. I even had my first ever Torta here thanks to a friend and I have to say, I want them forever now!

Nothing gets better than an authentic Mexican Taqueria. Taquerrria! Taquerrria! I love saying that word! I have never dined in, always taken out but never disappointed. It really is like a hole in the wall that serves the most amazing Mexican fare ever. Delicious fresh salsas, delicious seasoned marinated meat. I've only had the carne asada and grilled chicken here so far but both have blown me out of the water. Burittos are huge and delicious. Tacos are filled to the brim with meat. And prices are not overpriced. The only downside of this place is it's location. It's impossible to find parking here on the streets as it's located by all the body shops. Make sure you have a food partner in crime to accompany you here. One of you drives while the other does a tuck and roll to pick up your yummy food! Awww man...i want to eat here now!

Dear Taqueria San Bruno, Your location scares me. No, really, it does. As I drove down the "industrial" part of San Mateo Ave., I had to turn my radio down 'cause I didn't want people to think that I was gangsta bumpin' One Direction... Lol ok, not so true! I drove and drove like a little old lady lost in the woods and there you were, standing all by your lonesome. I have found you! I was still scared but I found you! Being a morning person, I like to spend my weekend mornings either working out or running errands. On this particular Saturday, I had to run errands. By the time I was done, I was starving and I really, really wanted a breakfast burrito. Since you have been bookmarked for some time now, I thought I'd give you a shot. The restaurant is small but cozy and the lady at the register was kind. I ordered by breakfast burrito to-go to take home to share with the hubby.. Holy Moly! What do you put in that chorizo because it was effin' delicious! I couldn't stop eating! Ok, I could stop eating because I had to share. But since then, you have been my go-to Mexican spot in SB. A couple more weeks went by until I decided to visit you again. This time I ordered 2 items so I wouldn't have to share (laughing inside). Wet Burrito: I've never had a wet burrito before (that's what she said).. Haha ok, that's gross. But on a serious note, it was a fantastic burrito. I opted for chicken which was very flavorful and the sauce makes the burrito 10x better. Carne Asada Enchiladas: Meat was tender and seasoned perfectly. The rice and refried beans with sour cream and cheese were also very good. And the enchilada sauce could do no wrong. Taqueria San Bruno, I am glad I met you. I'll see you soon!

Delicious and HUGE burritos! I would recommend ordering a super burrito and splitting it in half with a friend--it is so difficult to finish these things (one can finish an entire one, but not without regret and self loathing that comes afterward)! The staff is friendly and the salsa bar has a great assortment of hot sauces. Parking is a bit difficult in the area (all street parking with a bunch of auto shops and industrial buildings).

  • Alice Y.

Awesome hole-in-the-wall find! The tacos are solid. I had the beef, pork and lengua (beef tongue) options, all of which were really tasty. The salsas were equally as tasty and plenty spicy. Menu items are priced really well and they definitely don't skimp on meat portions. I'll be going back soon to try some of the plates and other tacos.

Went with a party of 6, nobody was blown away by the food. Meh is a good way to put it. Now in their defense, my bf is a total Mexican food snob and rarely is any one's Al Pastor up to snuff, but none of us loved what we had ... So the search continues for the Al Pastor of his dreams, that or we have to drive to Santa Rosa which has a place that nailed it.

I LOVE this taqueria. I never thought I would find a decent let alone EXCELLENT taqueria outside SF ever, but I was wrong and GLADLY so! This lil spot is nestled between several auto repair shops. What impressed me was the Al Pastor! I haven't tried the chicken because well I'm a pork person, but I will eventually because my roommate and friend rave about it. The marinade is what makes it good. The seasonings they use to flavor their meat is unique. I have never tasted anything like it from SJ to SF taco truck or restaurant alike. The Al Pastor at other places is usually disgustingly fatty dripping with orange grease running out the foil down you hand and wrist. That is NOT the case here! My only complaint is they don't put hominy in their menudo. I am partial to hominy. It is MY FAVORITE PART of menudo. Everyone makes it different though with or without. Pozole should be without hominy but some of my Latina friends say no BOTH menudo and pozole have hominy. Oh well, you gonna tell mama how to cook her food? Uh uh not me! You know how Latin women are. You eat it and shut up or go hungry and don't ever eat her food again you ingrate lol Rhis charming family run restaurant is a gem of a find. Glad I stopped in finally after all these yrs. Parking is tight, but it is WORTH it if you do come. Better to ride your bike there always rockstar parking with a bicycle. They do pay- -per-view events for boxing and UFC fights. There is always soccer, a telenovella, or Latin news on one of their tvs which is typical. The boys who work there are HELLA fine. Mom and dad must be a beautiful couple because their babies are HANDSOME. Come for the view, stay for the food if ya catch my drift, ladies ;-)

I just moved to San Bruno and couldn't be happier to have found this taqueria! I love Mexican food and its hard to find a good place but i am lucky i found this place!! Please try and don't be put off by the outside-remember the old saying-"you can't judge a book by its cover" :) Parking is really bad but so worth it!

I would come here for the avocado salsa alone, but the tacos are phenomenal also. Family owned and super nice too. Going to try the burritos next time since I also hear they're great.

Hands down my favorite Mexican restaurant. Everything is fresh and delicious. I always order the fish tacos or burrito, it is soooooo good! The owners are extremely friendly. Parking is a bit of a challenge but the food here is worth a try if you're in the neighborhood.

An amazing place in a slightly sketchy area! Came here on the way to San Francisco after feeling a craving for an al pastor burrito. I probably should've saved half of it for another meal, but it was pretty addictive. The place is located pretty close to 101 in an industrial area. Parking was a bit challenging as I had to park half a mile away, but no biggie. I waited about 10 minutes for my burrito, and that actually makes me happy because I'd rather wait for a freshly-made burrito instead of one that comes out a minute after ordering, leaving me wondering, "how the hell did it get made that quickly?", or "which microwave did it come out of?" I'm pretty sure I burned my mouth on the burrito because it was piping hot. But oh so worth it as the al pastor had a great flavor. I poured some green salsa on it and wish I took salsa to go because it was fantastic. And eating all that while watching a Giants game makes for a good afternoon in the Bay Area!

Crack cocaine in between a hot corn tortilla. This is the only way to describe the tacos at TSB. I've tried a few taco joints in San Bruno and this is hands down the only place anyone should ever get tacos from (within a 20 mile radius). I've had a few burritos here in the past which were delicious however the tacos are what really stand out here. Their al pastor taco is the tits. I've tried the chicken and carnitas a handful of times, but al pastor is king. The service at TSB is friendly and prompt and the space is large enough to support the lunch rush, however most people take out. The only thing preventing TSB from getting 5 stars is location. Its in the pseudo industrial auto repair district of San Bruno and if you plan to come here on a weekday, make sure its before 12PM or after 2PM as there is little to no street parking. Regardless of the parking situation TSB has become almost an addiction and this spot is definitely worth the hassle.

Amazing tacos, so much so I ordered an extra one after finishing my meal. Mexican-style with two small tortillas, super tasty, great prices.

Excellent! I'm so glad I found this place on Yelp. I couldn't find my favorite Mexican place in San Bruno so in a pinch I googled and found TSB. Am I ever glad I did find this place! It's right across from Skypark in an industrial area. Sure, it's seedy. Who cares? The food was great (except the refries which were bland) and super cheap. Street tacos for $1.85 each. Come on, how can you NOT love this place? I had carne asada and chicken tacos. Without a doubt, this is truly a hidden gem that I am overjoyed to have located. Without a doubt, I will eat here again on my next visit to the Bay Area!

Probably the best mex in the Bay Area. I come from San Diego so always in the hunt. 20 years in the Bay Area and never disappointed with TSB. Quality carne asada burrito, always the true test - and don't waste time with anything in there but meat, salsa fresca, sour cream and fresh avocado. They make great refried beans, etc. it's all good. Super friendly staff (as someone noted, woman behind the counter is always great) and bonus: if you park at Skypark for a flight, just cross the street ;)

I cannot say enough of how much we love this place. Best lengua I've had in a long time! Came here a little late and the people still happily served us. We didn't feel rushed and all in fact we felt quite welcome. Will be going back as often as possible...and earlier to enjoy the place. A great find and a must try...You will not regret anything you order from here. We especially enjoyed the chicken fajita plate. Blessed to find this place!

Yum! Yum! Yum! I live literally two minutes away from this place, and I always told myself I would never step foot in there with the thinking "who wants to go to a taqueria by a bunch of auto shops?" Turns out, this place is simply delicious. I've tried their tacos and fajita plates and both were great. Parking can be difficult, but makes up for their salsa bar and chips. Now, I always come back here and have become a regular. Staff is friendly and always helpful if you need help finding something to eat.

My new favorite Taqueria! Found this place on Yelp. I took a chance & so glad I did. Please don't be deterred by location or how it looks from the outside. This place is family run & has been here for 18 years I believe. I got the shrimp burrito. It was delish! The set up for the salsa, chile, carrots & jalapeños looks nice & it all looks FRESH! I suggest you try this place, you won't be disappointed.

The ceviche is fantastic! I order mine without tostadas & with extra chips instead. Their shrimp burritos/tacos are delicious! Parking can be rather difficult, but if you can find a spot it's well worth your visit!

Holy moly guacamole. My boyfriend and I eat here at least twice a week and I thought it was due time I gave them the estrellas they deserve. (Stars in Spanish people, you live in California get with pictura) We always get the same thing so I can't comment on any other items but the Carne Asada buritto will make you want to do a cartwheel and jump for joy but make sure you do it before you eat because you may be too heavy to jump for anything after. I usually split mine up into to meals, makes great leftovers. mmmm now I want a burrito

Had the fish tacos, beans and rice. Excellent taste, preparation, spiciness. Friend had a burrito and said it was fantastic. Chips come with food, and there are several kinds of fresh salsa. This is my favorite kind of place- quick, friendly, inexpensive, and with GREAT food. I'll be back. Real soon.

My wife and I ate here for the first time tonight. This place could have gotten more stars from me, but because of some poor operational issues, inconsistency in their chips and lack of depth in their salsas, I couldn't hand them out. I had to keep my standards high. Very good burrito. Best I have had in the area. The chicken taco was excellent, as well, but we had to wait almost 35 minutes for 2 tacos and a burrito. The lay out of this small place is not conducive to "dining". It is small and can become cramped very quickly. The staff was friendly and busy, but I am not sure which employees touch food and which touch plates and if both touch money or not. The bottom line is that my experience could have been better, but the main dishes were surprisingly good and other peoples orders looked to be very good and worth a try, as well. I'll give a follow-up review after my next visit. At least this place is good enough to give a second try, and considering the neighborhood (it is in an area filled with industrial/auto service related shops), No nice after dinner walks or shopping close enough to enjoy. Prices were very reasonable.

Tucked away in between a bunch of autobody shops along San Bruno's autobody row lies some delicious Mexican eats from a small and homely taqueria. Mexican murals and the guy from 300? decorate the walls while Ranchera songs play through the jukebox. static1.px.yelp.com/bpho… Being in a blue collar industrial type neighborhood you know whatever you order is going to be filling. They have a picture menu on their wall which makes ordering easier but I'm here for the tacos. I had to pause since their taco meat menu was colossal! Al pastor, pescado (fish), barbacoa, pollo asado, chorizo, tripas, etc, yeah - all the favorites can be found here. I roll with their lengua, carne asada, and cabeza. static1.px.yelp.com/bpho… The cabeza aka Mexican head cheese is basically meat from the roasted head of a cow. It could be cheeks, ears, lips, etc. The meat was tender, a little fatty, and along with lengua static1.px.yelp.com/bpho… is slowly becoming my favorite. The carne asada was solid static2.px.yelp.com/bpho… and I wish I had a pic of the cabeza but I ate that joint with a quickness. Tacos are $1.75, $2 (tripas), $3 (pescado). Credit card accepted.

Oh Taqueria San Bruno. I was scared when I used Google Maps to find you and I ended up in the not so great part of San Bruno. I thought to myself, this had better be good, otherwise, I'm gonna be upset. Thank the heavens it was worth the trip. I ordered the carne asado burrito to go w/a side of chips. My sister had the chicken enchilada. We waited about 5-7 minutes and our order was ready to go. The cashier lady was super nice and friendly. Headed back to my sister's hotel and were totally excited to discover probably the best burrito I've ever had. I mean that. Seriously. Amazing. The meat was so tender and the combo with rice/beans/veggies and sour cream/guac was melt in your mouth! So awesome! Their chips were crunchy and clearly not from a bag. Not too salty and were excellent w/their various types of salsa. The reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is because their chicken enchilada was not so great. At least for me. I didn't care for it. There were potatoes or some sort of weird veggie in it. Just didn't like it. Overall: 4 stars. BEST BURRITO EVAR! OMG! Go for the burritos! You will NOT be disappointed. :)

Gotta love that they offer delivery. I had a slight hiccup since the order wasn't 100% accurate but it's hard to get mad when you enjoy the food so much. What other taquerias deliver? Don't say Araujo's, please don't. Love that the prices are reasonable, the salsas are tasty, and the staff is so nice! I can't seem to get enough of their al pastor and salsa verde. If only the parking weren't so rough here, but I'll be back .Best taqueria around this area for sure.

I'm pretty sure I came down with something after stopping here for lunch the other day. First off, this place will never win decor awards. The whole place needs a designb triage. It's not just the kitschy Virgen de Guadalupe shrine (sorry) just above the jukebox and the run-down walls and floors, but it's the items on the board written in black markers and the loud screams from the black and white Cantinflas movies roaring from the TV that add just that extra "what the f*** am I doing here" and "Am I going to get jumped?" feeling. Did I mention the salsa bar, where the crust of the salsas has either frozen or gone rotten? Two dudes are sitting near the front, eating their lunch. I step up to the counter and one of them gets up and takes my order. Classy. Except these two very loud guys are actually in front of me ---loud ass dudes, like they're salesmen or exporters or smugglers--and from another country since they weren't speaking Spanish, although they could say "carne asada" pretty well. They actually ordered 8, count 'em eight, tacos all on a plate and that was for the really huge guy with the voice like a megaphone. (Mind you, they didn't stop talking at the counter either. At their table the fat dude got on his iPhone and was shouting at someone calling him.) After I figured out I wanted the regular carne asada burrito, plate style, I waited. Got the free chips and salsa and regretted it instantly. The chips came out of a bag and were very hard and the salsa, well, was frozen and had no seasoning. Not good. I was brought my order by probably the guys' mom, who was nice. What she brought was longer than my arm. This is getting ridiculous. No one should be served this humungous glop. It was a full burrito, served in a pool of sauce and topped with panela or jack cheese (and NOT, by the way, PARMESAN as it says on the menu, and that's a good thing actually!) The carne asada was just OK not really seasoned but neither were the whole bean frijoles (not refried) the rice. What really ruined this dish was the sauce, which wasn't like a mole or enchilada sauce with chile guajillo for example and dark. This looked like something you'd make for huevos rancheros, but this didn't have much flavor. To be honest, it was probably hours from going south. That's how lousy it tasted. The problem is that the burrito was swimming in it. There simply have to be better places nearby --and there are, La Tapatia in South City, for one, except that place has no place to sit. In any case, a burrito place, and a run down one at that across the street from SkyPark and a bunch of auto body shops in a seedy San Bruno neighborhood is not going to be a promising venue for good food.

Best Mexican Food in the Bay Area. Yes, better than all the la hipster places like El Toro, El Farlito, Pancho Villa, and Papalote. It it hidden near the train tracks on San Mateo Ave. Once you see all the rice rockets, you know you are close. The food is bomb! It's got very good flavors. The fresh salsa bar is on FIRE! My usual is the pollo asado. Grilled Chicken with rice, beans, sliced avocado, and tortillas. You have to try the cow tongue tacos too! Give it a try and you will agree! Guaranmotherfreakingtee! And the beers are cheap!

been here a few times and returned for the first time in a while today. I totally agree with folks who say this is one of the best taquerias in northern California. Tacos and burritos are great but the lunch plates are the way to go.

"Oh no, not another burrito review from Matt!" No, this time I went to this taqueria to try some menudo for lunch. And no, I didn't have a hangover either! The $6.95 bowl of soup is only served on the weekends and contain bits of Pork Tripes and other vital organs in a spicy tomato flavored bowl of soup. My soup also comes with a warm plate of Corn Tortilla, Dried Oregano, Cilantro, Lime Wedges and Chopped Onions. The bowl of soup was quite a change from my usual burrito. Yet, the soup is very comforting and soothing. yelp.com/biz_photos/Ucwb… This small taqueria has a Huge flat-screen TV and I was watching soccer while enjoying my soup. Despite a friendly family staff, the restaurant is somewhat dirty with mosquitoes flying around like the Blue Angels in the Bay Area. My Visa was accepted for my meal. The taqueria is located a few blocks away from the Tanforan Mall.

One of my friends and I are pretty big fans of the burritos from La Tapatia in SSF (we text each other to brag about when we go), but she recently mentioned that she tried Taqueria San Bruno and thought it might have surprassed our usual favorite. "Blasphemy" was the first thought that came to mind, followed by "when are we going?". Walking in, the place is just about what you would expect - relaxed, yet coloful sort of look, photos of their entrees on the wall, a refrigerator case of cervezas, a cart of aguas frescas, a menu full of assorted combinations of favorites (burritos, tacos, enchiladas, and nachos), and a giant flat screen TV on the wall playing Transformers 2. Okay, so ALMOST about what you would expect. Per my typical MO, ordered my usual Carne Asada Super Burrito so I could get a better comparison. The burrito is pretty big, with a good balance of filling - not too heavy on just rice, beans, meat. Solid start. As for the meat, there weren't any junk pieces with tendon, and there was some pieces of meat with that dark crust, so plus points there. The seasoning was verfy flavorul, but it was a little too salty/seasoned for my liking. My initial impression was that my batch of meat was sitting in the marinade/sauce for too long. At this point, I think La Tapatia still has the edge by just a tad (their chips and salsa are so good!), but Taqueria San Bruno is barely just a shade below. Regardless, still better than anything I've had in the city so far. I would say 4.5 stars is exactly right, but rounding down for now just because of the salty meat and that they are a little out of the way. However, if their Al Pastor (carnitas) is as good as I hope it to be...then five stars!

Great find near my hotel. Not easy to find parking but glad I went. The salsa verde they had at the salsa bar was outstanding. I couldn't stop eating it with the chips. Had three tacos: Shrimp Al Pastor Carnitas All were good - a little hard to eat because they were filled with so much! I would definitely go back to try other stuff here. Lots of locals, so you know it is good!

Best Place for Mexi food. Yum. Beats the 3 best places in the Mission. La Taqueria , El Farolito , and La Palma. Cabeza is better, they do Fahitias , Shrimp and Fish. Chicken is Not dried. Portions are outstanding, price is reasonable for the quality and quantity. Try and be delighted.

Awesome... I regret the years I have not known about this place. Had the super shrimp Burrito. Fantastic flavor, shrimp were cooked perfectly, too many large cleaned well seasoned shrimp in my burrito to count. Barely could finish, but you know how that last bite of the burrito is always best, so sacrifices must be made. Bf had the same but also an al pastor taco. Very well marinated and SO tender. Customer service is great, there's no parking, but once you find a spot a couple of blocks away, it will be well worth it, and hey, you can probably burn off a couple of bites on the way back to your car.

I wanted to like this place. I swear I did. It's just not good. I grew up in Texas and have eaten a few times my weight in delicious Mexican food. This is not good. I ordered a super burrito (I didn't trust the tacos, sorry, I wasn't feeling up to that much heartbreak) and paid more for guacamole and sour cream- which were left off. I got chicken as my meat- it's all fat. I bite in and there's a weird crunching... Yikes. So gross. I hope you Californians get delicious REAL Mexican food someday!

By the way my co-workers ditch work to come here, one would think this place has the Bay Area's best burritos. So, in order to try this place, I ditched work with them. The burrito is just okay. I'm not a fan of their super burrito since it doesn't come with guacamole, and their meat doesn't have that medium-rare great flavor to it. I'm also not a fan of their whole beans. Also, it's kind of small. The horchata was okay though, but I've had better. The service was okay, the guy behind the counter was really busting his ass to bring out orders. Um, next time I'll just stay at work instead.

I think I have a softness in my heart for run-down (or at least, not corporate pristine) taquerias. This place is quite small, no frills, and hidden way out in the middle of nowhere, basically, which is where some of the best places are usually! We ended up getting nearly one of every type of taco (for scientific testing, of course), and while our wait was longer than others (everything is cooked to order!), it was most definitely worth it. Our favorites were definitely: + Lengua + Pollo Asada + Pastor + Carne Asada + Cabeza Also, make sure you grab some of their fantastic salsa verde up front while you wait!

I successfully satiated my craving for authentic Mexican food at Taqueria San Bruno during my short visit home. I rarely ever crave Mexican, but after the debacle at the burrito joint in Hamburg, I needed to update my last memory of Mexican food to something more positive. I shared a super carnitas burrito with the hubby and also had a shrimp taco. I can see why this place is known for their shrimp. Every piece of shrimp was bursting with flavor. The carnitas was quite good and...crunchy. I would've like some pieces of crispy fried meat for texture here and there. Let's say it was over-textured, far too much crunch. I did rather enjoy the crispy, flaky tortilla and the other contents of the burrito tasted yums. Other than the overload of crunchy carnitas, I enjoyed my dinner here and would definitely return.

Always on the hunt for a new spot to satisfy my Carnitas cravings and boy did I find it today. Stepped in the door and headed to the counter to place my order. My usual tactic during my first visit to an establishment, is to order taco's with a variety of meats to see which one packs the most flavor. Placed my order for a Carne Asada, Carnitas and an Al Pastor taco. Received a bowl of chips and went straight over to the salsa bar to fill the cups up with salsa verde and pico de gallo. Watched as a few dinner plates were delivered to tables and the portions were bigger than most taquerias in the area. Finally, the time has arrived for me to sink my teeth into these puppies... HOLY CRAP! The Carnitas has a crunch to them like chicharrònes and damn are they tasty! The Al Pastor has sautéed onions and bits of pineapple, super flavorful. The Carne Asada was just in need of lil' more salsa verde but that didn't stop me from tearing it down like an abandon building in the city. With that being said I picked up a Carnitas burrito for the road and headed home to watch the U.S. ladies take on Japan in the World Cup finals... GO USA! I definitely recommend you and yours swinging by and enjoying the love that is put into the food here. Friendly staff that is more than willing to make sure your visit is a happy one. Can't ask for more than that! Will be back!

Ummm so why have I been traveling all the way to sf mission to get tacos/burritos when this hidden gem has been rite around the corner from where I live!! This is deff the best best Mexican food I have had in sooo long. The menu is on the wall with the prices and it even has pictures too. We got 2 fish tacos 1 shrimp taco and 1 chicken taco with a corona total 17.00 and you get a big basket of free chips and a great salsa station. yeah its a bit in the pricey side but with the amazing flavors in the meat itself is just satisfaction to the taste buds..you will keep coming back for more. The service was awesome!! The guy was really friendly and did not rush us to order, it's not an upscaled place it's deff your hole in the wall type of place but that just means it's THE BEST!! You might miss it if they don't have the neon signs in the front as it's in a industrial place between car garage shops....lots of street parking. Thanks sf for your tacos but I'm moving up to the safe side to get my tacos and burritos now.

Hands down the best Mexican food ever. I travel a lot for work (flight attendant) and this is honestly one of the places I can say actually knows how to make tacos and enchiladas. You get one HUGE bang for your buck! My boyfriend and I usually have to share a platter together because it's that big to eat. Shrimp tacos are priceless. With two tortillas for every order you have two tacos for the price of one. Season with love and tossed to perfection, these tacos will make You feel like your sitting on a beach in Mexico enjoying the sunset!!! Carnitas are delish also, maybe on the chewier side but with Guac, sour cream, cheese and cilantro you won't think twice about this order! The El pastor platter has little pineapple chunks in it, soft and melts almost in your mouth.. Then you get beans and rice?! Heck yes. It may be slightly in a sketch place (tons of automotive shops) but it's a great place if your looking for some real delicious Mexican food :)

Satisfying small Mexican place near some car shops. Been a fan of this place for over two years now! Hey, my chipotle peeps, ditch that "Mexican" fast food chain and come to this instead! For a cheaper price you get double the size with triple the authenticity. Regular plate burrito with chicken $6.95: comes with complimentary chips and a free self serve dip station! Burritos are bigger than my face .... And that says a lot. Served on a plate with sauce, sour cream, and parmesan cheese. Friendly staff every time I'm here! Parking might suck a little but it wasn't bad on a Sunday afternoon.

Pretty good food for a little hole in the wall surrounded by body shops. I was surprised and impressed and I'm pretty picky about Mexican food. Even my two year old son ate his food. I will definitely go back come my next taco/burrito hankering

I'm a big fan of tacos and burritos. I've eaten many different tacos and burritos at many different restaurants and trucks, so my cousin recommended that I try out Taqueria San Bruno. I went in to the restaurant for the first time today and I can truly say that my mind was blown by how good my food was. I ordered a carne asada taco and a shrimp taco. (I'm not a big fan of shrimp, but my cousin told me I had to try it.) The carne asada was thinly sliced and shredded just right. The shrimp was perfectly seasoned. I will definitely be going back. This place is awesome!

Free street parking (yeah, let's start with that first...lol). Located in the middle of auto repair row in SSF...or I suppose it's in San Bruno, hence the name. Random wall decorations adorning the ubiquitous Mexican murals seen in taquerias. Delicious burritos and shrimp tacos. Extensive salsa bar. Simple, good, and is very likely my new favorite Mexican spot in this part of the Bay. Friendly people and fútbol on the tube.

Freakin' top: this is some of the best hole-in-the-wall Mexican I've had in a long time. We've got some good options out in Chicago, but it's always fun to see how they do it out west. I nearly missed my flight waiting for two tacos and some rice and beans. But the quality of the food was just what I like out of a small Mexican restaurant. The meats were perfectly seared and seasoned. Fresh onion, cilantro. Nice and hot. Good selection of salsas. Rice was a little bland (wish there was a bit of lard and salt), but not a deal breaker. Don't expect super fast service (in my experience), but definitely expect some dice food. Good last stop before flying out.

Discovered this little gem with a couple of friends and boy was I surprised. Living in the peninsula area, I usually always go to San Francisco for good Mexican food so I was super happy to find this place. I've pretty much had all of the most popular items from a carne asada taco to an al pastor super burrito. Everything that I've had here was very tasty. Their meats here are all super tender and flavorful and when you bite into their burritos.. A burst of juices enter your mouth. Not only is the food super good but the establishment itself and workers are all super welcoming.

Perhaps one of the best burritos I have ever had. Taqueria San Bruno is really close to SFO so I think I have a new ritual after coming back from a trip. The location is a tad sketch, especially at night,....as in where has yelp lead me to? But once you have found this gem of a Taqueria you will be glad you did. This place is tiny but what it lacks in size it makes up for in it's cozy comfortable atmosphere. I had the regular al pastor burrito: They grill their burritos but it worked for me...the texture was absolutely amazing. The fillings were just magnificent. Al Pastor is pork that is usually cooked on a spit on an open fire (you get that crunchy succulence found in carnitas but with out the oily greasy frying of carnitas). TSB does Al Pastor dead on.. flavorful, crunchy, succulent bits of pork goodness. The other components were equally as impressive. Rice was light and flavorful, great beans, and great red salsa with pepper flakes in it. The Salsa bar is also an added major bonus: They have the marinated jalapenos and carrots (I was eating these like candies), a great chunky salsa crudo ( typical chopped tomatoes, onions, peppers etc), a great green salsa, and two more red salsas that were absolutely stunning. Btw you get free chips with your burrito (chips were okay..probably not homemade) Service here was amazing...the cute lady who took my order was super pleasant and offered me a baggy to take some jalapenos with my to go order. They also take visa credit cards....major bonus for many people. My only complaint and thus the one star off was that their guacamole was really really bad. Not good texture and mixed with a watery sour cream or something. Nevertheless this is one of my favorite favorite Taquerias....and I highly recommend Taqueria San Bruno!!!!!

Thanks yelp for steering me here for tacos! This is near SFO and in the middle of a bunch of autobody shops and off-airport parking lots. Casual atmosphere with both take out and dine in options. The menu consists basically of burritos, tacos, and various plates. Lots of meats to choose from including beef, chicken, tongue, chorizo, fish, shrimp and more! Free nachos with a minimum $6 purchase. Nice salsa bar where you serve yourself. Both my partner and I loved our tacos - served in corn tortillas. I liked them best plain with onions and salsa, while hubby liked the extra cheese, guacamole and sour cream added. Meats were nicely charred with tons of flavor. Tacos range from $1.85 to $3.50 each. Great lunch spot!

Not bad shrimps are pretty good my kids really loved it and they finish their plates which I give a big thumbs up to

Incredible tacos! Authentic taqueria close to SFO airport. You can't go wrong with any taco choice. The chorizo and fish tacos were my choice and I've never had a better taco! The service was top notch and my friends and I were treated to complimentary chips and salsa. This place is also super affordable! Don't miss this hidden gem!

  • Victoria B.

I loooove this place! It's a hidden gem and probably one of the best taquerias in the Bay Area. I usually get the super burrito with pollo asado, or the super nachos with carne asada, the fish tacos or the shrimp tacos. My boyfriend always gets a wet burrito and lengua taco. He loves the lengua and I take his word on it! Not my thing. *Only thing I don't like is their guacamole. It's weird. I am a guac expert and make a pretty good version myself, so I know when it's off. They charge $5 for teeny tiny scoop of it and it's heavily mixed with sour cream. There isn't too much flavor to it and what you can taste is a not very pleasant. Always ask for avocado instead

Super great Mexican Taqueria right next to the San Bruno Caltrain. Big menu...I only tried 3 items, but can't wait to go back to try more. Some of the best shrimp tacos I've ever had. The tostada was also pretty good. It's one of my favorite taquerias in the area.

This is pretty delicious having moved from Los Angeles, I have always tried out a lot of Mexican food. The burritos here are awesome! You should all definitely try the carne asada! the only thihng I didn't like about the place was the tacos. ;(

    (4)
  • Brandon R.

I love mexican food and always eat Carne asada Super burritos/Quesadillas. They do have a solid burrito but i still prefer el farolito as my #1 choice.

  • Frankie V.

These guys are awesome. Walked in when I got delayed from Cal-Train and they had the giants game on. Decided to grab some ultimate shrimp tacos (or supreme can't recall at the moment) and they were delicious! Highly recommended. And the guy even brought me a second Modelo on the house. Fantastic! Definitely will come here again when in San Bruno.

  • Bhavi A.

Omgggg the taco salad in a shell... Just make sure you leave out the nasty iceberg lettuce so your salad is only left with steak, guacamole, sour cream, cheese, and rice in a nice deep fried shell. Now you may be asking "Hey wait a minute, that doesn't sound like a salad at all!" But once you have a bite, you will never have any questions ever again.

  • Lena M.

Shrimp Tacos! The salsa is so tasty. 5 stars! I can't even get this in Santa Ana. Lol. Very tasty. So glad I came here. BTW. Skip the guac. Not that good.

  • Heejin L.

3.75 stars. I thought the carne asada taco and the shrimp taco were pretty good. It is probably the best I've had so far in the bay area. I've only been to El farolito and Taqueria Cancun and I thought those places weren't good at all. I didn't like the al pastor. It was really tomato-y. The red hot sauce was just Ok. I wished it was spicy. I preferred the green avocado sauce over that. The horchata was too watery for my taste. They have a salsa bar. Small place in an industrial area.

Been going to place for awhile now and never disappoints until tonight..... Ordered a Super shrimp burrito and they made it like a Regular burrito. :( Why charge us the higher price if you're not going to add the extras?

  • Quiche J.

I'm firm San Diego so I'm usually pretty hard on Mexican food reviews. This place is legit. -1 Star for having to circle around for 5 min then park 2 blocks away.

  • swimmer h.

wow, it was good. went after work and parked on the side street. not sure about parking or waiting for food at lunch as parking was not really available on SanMateo Ave. I bet a bunch of people call in orders as well. This will be my after work spot!

We've been going to Los Cuates for awhile now, but I think we have discovered our new go-to Mexican joint. My go-to eats at Los Cuates are the carnitas taco and the fish burrito. At TSB, we tried the carnitas taco, fish taco, and carne asada burrito. TSB killed the carnitas taco hands down. The carnitas chunks were generously sized and perfectly seasoned. The fish taco was really good too, and i'm looking forward to trying the fish burrito upon our next return. The carne asada burrito was meh and I will not be ordering it again. My native San Diegan husband agrees with my assessment!

  • Andre M.

I went to this place several months ago but just now getting around typing this review. I had a super burrito of carne asada and I must say that it was every bit of the Mexican food experience you are looking for. Meat was very juicy and the tortilla just on point. They have quite a selection of salsas to add to your burrito to make it even better. I also ordered some tacos for my younger brother. He said they were delicious so I had to take a bite. He was right, the meat and ingredients are the way they are suppose to be at a Mexican restaurant. The only inconvenience I found was the placement of the TV(only one). As it would get blocked by the long line this place gets. The layout is small and when you add the line it's hard to see the games. Other than that I really like this place.

    (4)
  • David L.

Tacos are super authentic the way they're served in Baja. Nice and spicy salsa to top it off. This place is super hole-in-the-wall. But it's really really good. My knock on Northern Cal is that the Mexican food is so inauthentic unlike SD and LA. This place hits the spot. I'll eat here every time I fly into SFo from now on.

  • Steven M.

Meh, thought it was ok. Got the chicken burrito and wasn't particularly impressed. The rice was a little on the mushy side and nothing else really stood out. I read cilantro on the menu, but didn't get much of it. The area is also a little shady and it's a huge pain to park. I think it's because all the auto repair shops on the block (holy crap there are a lot of them) need somewhere to put their cars.

    (3)
  • David C.

Solid tacos. Very fresh and spicy. Glad it's close to my job

  • M H.

I came here because of great yelp review and was excited to try new place. It's really hard to find parking in this area...had to double park and ordered food to go from this hole in the wall joint. I ordered super chicken burrito and it was just ok. My order took 25min....way too long for a mediocre burrito, way too long for any burrito! Definitely overrated!!!! I don't think I'll be back since it's really nothing special.

  • C M.

Best chicken burrito I've ever had. Period. Landed at SFO starving after a cross country trip. Airport fare wasn't going to cut it. While taxing to gate saw Taqueria San Bruno on Yelp. Best part the taqueria was a few blocks away from Park n Fly on west side of 101. Got there a few minutes before closing. They were pretty much done for the day but were gracious with my late arrival and had my chicken super burrito ready in a few minutes. They even upgraded by small horchata to a large at no additional cost. The first bite stopped me. And the second bite confirmed it. I've never had a burrito this good and didn't know a whole other level of burrito yumminess was possible. Looking forward to my next SFO flight just to have another.

Al Pastor Super Nachos!!!!! SOOOOO GOOD the only problem is that its pretty slow. they took 45 minutes to make 5 tacos, 1 super nacho, and a burrito thats a pretty long time, but they arent usually that slow

  • Pat Y.

I never knew this place existed. It's definitely off the beaten path. If it was not for Yelp, I would have never tried the place. Food is very good. The salsa bar is always fresh and clean which is a sign of a good Taqueria. The religious altar adds further sign this place is the real deal and not part of some chain. The portions are generous and tasty. I'm a fan and a repeat customer.

We were craving a good burrito and since we just moved into the neighborhood we were looking to try a place close by. Landed at Taqueria San Bruno and it was great!! Sketchy location and we actually had a hard time finding parking but the two carne asada super burritos we ordered were awesome!! Very well flavored and a good balance of delicious Mexican rice, meat, beans, and everything else. Oh and I think they heat up the tortilla on the griddle which makes it nice and toasty. This isn't the cafeteria style taqueria where everything is scooped onto your burrito, I think they actually cook to order!! Service was good and food came out fast enough. Prices are reasonable and they take cards which saved our cashless selves. ----------------------- We actually just went back AGAIN (2 weeks after our initial visit) and we had no problem with parking this time around. In addition to burritos, we also ordered some tacos. The carnitas were crispy and the pollo asado was very flavorful. I think I'll try more of their tacos next time. Service was still friendly and the burritos we got were still delicious. I'm excited that I'll be eating the 2nd half of my super burrito (it was too big for me to finish in one sitting) for lunch today...gives me something to look forward to on a Monday.

  • Nelson M.

I first ate here about 7 years ago and let me tell you, their burritos are amazing! One of the best taquerias in the bay area! There are not too many places that know how to cook a delicious burrito. Their horchata use to be real good, but lately it's watered down. If you love burritos, then this is the place to go!

  • Chuck N.

4.5 stars - a great taqueria. It's tucked away behind the airport parking lots in the middle of the auto/industrial San Bruno Ave district. Not a very sexy place to eat, but the food here is worth the 1 mile drive away from the shopping malls and hot spots for. Get the "plate" burrito. It's a wet burrito for $5.75 that is seriously the largest burrito (and i'm a burrito afficionado who has had over 1,000 different burritos, probably more) other than grande / novelty ones. The chicken is all dark meat and very juicy. The carne asada is a bit dry and fatty, but tasty. Get the chicken. Comes with unlimited chips and salsa and you can't go wrong. Service is excellent as well. Was very crowded for such a poor location too. Definitely a secret spot. I highly enjoyed it. I could only finish half the burrito, took the other half home and had it for dinner. 2 meals in one for $6!

Was looking for a highly rated Taqueria near our hotel & found this. We both ordered the Pollo plate that came w/rice, beans, & salad & enjoyed every last bite. I don't know why people say this area is scary. Seems like a normal industrial area to me. I personally think the "Loin" in SF is way more sketch. Unfortunately, they didn't have a spicy salsa or habanero sauce but they brought out a few different sauces for us to try besides their salsas. Friendly service & extensive menu. I'll probably stop here again next time I'm staying in South SF.

Mexican food that delivers! Yes! A great family run business, I think almost everyone who works here is related. It is extremely good taqueria food. This place smells and looks like you would imagine with shrines and pictures on the wall. I usually get the burritos or the tacos, the wife doesn't like the ceviche anymore but when she has a cold I get major bonus points for bringing home the shrimp soup. The verde sauce is fantastic, but the end all be all is that delivery on that Saturday when I'm too messed up to drive or even cook Taqueria San Bruno is to the rescue in a little over half and hour. Sometimes, they are a little slow for pickups, but if that is what it takes for quality they can take the extra time.

This place is THE place to get the finest burritos in town. I love love love the burritos at Taqueria San Bruno! Then again, that's the only thing I've ever tried here. But there so freaking delicious, so mouth-watering, so yummalicious why would I ever get anything else? I always get the chicken super burrito, and hubby always get the steak super burrito. He loves the texture of the steak, the way they chop it up; its not all watery or shredded. I just love how much chicken they pack into this tremendous goodness. All you need to is to eat one of these burritos and you'll be full for the whole day. It's very easy to order too, you can even call and order in a head of time. Also the chips are extremely tasty, not all flat, skinny, and oily. They're big, crunchy, thick and not oily at all. Prices are fantastic. I bought two super burritos, two waters, and it was only 16 bucks. Great service Fantastic prices Scrumptiously Great burritos

Not sure where the 4.5 stars come from yelpers? Got a bean, rice, and cheese burrito with horchata... Everything was just "ok", nothing memorable. Maybe I didn't order something they are famous for??

  • Darius A.

I used to come here all the time. Last week I came here and ordered Al Pastor super burrito. It was the most disgusting thing I have ever had. I had been here before and the food was good but I don't know what the hell happened this time but I can tell you that it was not meat in my burrito. The salsa bar is good and that was the only thing good about my experience. I ate a quarter of my burrito and just filled myself up with the chips. They also sell Arizona iced teas for double the price on the bottle. Never coming here again.

    (2)
  • Orland N.

Definitely a whole on the wall but you will not be disappointed. Had the super burrito carne asada and definitely was the best I had by far. Had unlimited salsa bar and chips were tasted fresh. Only challenge I had for this place is parking. You can say that this a great place, so many people dropping by for take out.

  • Bing B.

This place still rocks. The Mission has nothing on this place. If you want good SoCal Mex food. No frills and clean- dial yourself in to a carne asada burrito. Salsas are good too.

    (5)
  • Becca I.

So far, it's the best taqueria in the Bay area. The closest I'll ever get to SoCal.

  • Q L.

We were looking for a new Taqueria and found this place on yelp. We ordered fish tacos, the ceviche, menudo, and lengua with just rice. Omg, the food was delicious! Everything was cooked and seasoned perfectly!! The lengua was super tender and the rice was not over seasoned. It was perfect for my baby girl. Most places use too much salt, so I was worried. They added just the right amount. The menudo and ceviche was good too! We were very satisfied and happy with the food! Definitely will be coming back!

so far, this has been my favorite mexican food spot in the area. the burritos and tacos are amazing. careful with the hot salsa - it's tongue burning hot! :P overall delicious food.

This tiny place is a local favorite: blue-collar workers of nearby businesses come here for lunch in droves. It is a bit bigger than "hole in the wall" but has a character and warmth to it. Great fresh inexpensive food: love their $1.85 tacos - pastor and lengua are my favorites, plus freebies: salsas, carrots, reddish, chips, etc. - can have a meal for $2! Unbelievable! And, I'd say this is one of the best Mexican food places on the Peninsula. Don't bring your date here, but definitely stop for lunch! Othen than taco favorite: Flower Super Marina Quesadilla (with shrimp; guacamole and sour cream inside)

  • Lisa C.

this is what I'm talking about. I needed to find a burrito place close to the airport to get the right kind of burrito before my friend had to hop on her plane. we got carne asada burritos and also a cabeza burrito. Cheap, delicious, just right. The burritos come with chips which were nothing special, but the salsa bar is a nice addition.

LEGIT. Best Mexican food in San Bruno!

    (5)
  • Meshay B.

The BEST taqueria I've found in San Bruno since my husband and I moved here from Santa Cruz about 4 years ago!! And trust me, Santa Cruz has some of the MOST authentic taquerias and I've been searching (with no luck) since we moved here for a taqueria that serves nachos just as delicious as the taquerias in Santa Cruz and FINALLY stumbled upon this place! I am hooked! I've even got my work to order from here for our lunch!! =) The people are nice and friendly and the food is delicious! The only down side is that parking is a pain to find as it is in the industrial side, so all the spots are taking during normal business hours. You might have to park far, but it is well worth the walk! And you can burn some calories before you eat their delicious nachos and burritos! =)

  • Lisa A.

I was walking in the door to the hotel I was crashing at last Fall as one of the guys from housekeeping was headed out the door to this place. I tagged along because the locals always know the good places, right? It's small, but don't let that fool you. This family run Mexican restaurant puts some serious heart in its food. This place isn't just a taqueria. It's got a full menu of dinner plates and a salsa bar. The tortillas are home made and delicious. If you find yourself down in South City or over at Tanforan, it's worth the trip.

  • Ernest F.

NO WORDS can express my love for there Al Pastor. SIMPLY MARVELOUS!!!! In addition, the rest of their menu is ALSO TO FALL IN LOVE FOR. HANDS DOWN, the VERY VERY BEST taqueria in San Mateo County-NO QUESTION. If I could only get may hands on their Al Pastor recipe.

    (5)
  • David J.

Excellent! The super burrito al pastor fue grande como mi cabeza! The salsas were good but not as spicy as their warning on the sign. Los camarones ala diabla era muy, muy muy muy picante pero muy muy muy muy buena! Will definitely be back.

  • John H.

This has to be one of my favorite taquerias of all time. Not only do they have good prices, but their food is amazing as well. Their shrimp quesadillas (super mariner) are amazing!! Their tacos and burritos have a lot of flavor as well. The prices are fair enough to compare with the flavor of the food you get. Plus they give you bigger portions than most places do. Yummy!

    (5)
  • Dan K.

The definition of a "hole in the wall" ... With jaw droppingly good food (if "droppingly" is a word). Great salsa, amazing al pastor. My mouth waters just thinking about this place.

  • Shane P.

I go to this place almost once or twice a week. Stop by here for break during work and I have got to say that this place is the best. Sure it may be located in the Automotive district of San Bruno, but their food is Awesome! The family owned Taqueria is very nice. I usually order a Shrimp Burrito (which roughly come out to $5-6 +Tax) or a Taco Salad de Carnitas (about $10). And to much satisfaction, it tastes GREAT and I have no complaints with their dishes at all! A bit over-priced but I really don't care HAHA I give Taqueria San Bruno 5 stars, due great and quick service, and Awesome food!

So there I was walking to Melody Toyota to pick up my car and I happened by Taqueria San Bruno - always on my list but 15 years in San Bruno and I had never been. My loss because its destined to be my fav taco shack around. I had a chicken super taco for $3.00 Everything else looked yummy. Will be back soon.

  • John H.

Pretty solid tacos. I love how the chips are extra crispy here and their salsa has good flavor. Don't expect lightening fast tacos here, it does take 5-10 mins to make. Also the parking here is challenging.

  • Anne E.

My bf had been tellin me about this joint for a long time now and finally I had a chance to join him for lunch here yesterday. And....sooo far, so great!!! We both had the steak tacos. Of course, mine had all the fixings and it was delicious. The steak was still tender and juicy too. I was quite impressed, being that this little taqueria is located in one of those "back" streets and can be a bit hard to find. You would only know about it if you were specifically looking for it, or you were in the area getting your car fixed. The service is quick and courteous and so I have no complaints. I will have to revisit and try their super burrito and they just might earn their 5th star from me! Yum, i can't wait. Their complimentary chips and salsa are addictive as well.

  • Joey M.

Great hole in the wall spot. My first time I had a super burrito with carve asada. Great choice, and they have cabeza. My favorite! Their salsa bar is top notch. I had the salsa Verde, delicious and HOT! I use the skypark across the street almost every week. When I come home from traveling I am usually hungry, so I think i'll be stopping in here quite a bit from now on.

    (5)
  • Greg J.

Everything I want in my taqueria. Crappy industrial location? Check! Terrible parking? You got it! Divey hole in the wall vibe? Indeed! And they are serving up the best carne asada super burrito since la plaza circa 1985.

    (5)
  • Monica B.

Based on reviews I was expecting this taqueria to be great, but it was a let down. Al pastor wasn't comparable to many other good taquerias, so I'll stick to Los Metates.

    (2)
  • Emily M.

Came here after a long international flight, it's across the street from where we always park. My boyfriend had a hankering for mexican so we gave it a shot. I was surprised at how amazing pastor was! I'm pretty sure they marinate it in pineapple juice - soooo delicious. The enchiladas were also to die for! Best mexican I've had in a very, very (very) long time. Super fresh and authentic mexican - really great value and huge portions.

Ok, so I mentioned previously that Ali Baba is the only reason to travel to the industrial wasteland of South San Francisco...I was wrong... a little bit further down San Mateo Avenue is one of the best taquerias I've experienced in the Bay Area. Two words: Salsa Bar. Taqueria San Bruno has an incredible little salsa bar. Fresh, clean, 6(?) selections of delicious salsa ready to be inhaled with their freshly fried tortilla chips. In addition to their delicious salsa bar, I'm also a fan of their veggie burrito. Flavorful, cheap and filling it really satisfies my weekly(hangover) burrito craving. My coworker is a huge fan of the bean and cheese burrito which is something like $2 (maybe less?). He eats like a cow and this burrito combined with a healthy portion of chips satisfied him for the rest of the work day. The people that work there are super friendly. My coworker had beef with this dude who was very vocal whilst watching the always-playing soccer games but I thought it added some much needed personality to this desolate strip of San Mateo Avenue.

Had the carne esada super quesadilla which was perfect. Also was certainly big enough for 2 people if you want to split it. And, the tortilla chips really stand out as well.

hole in the wall mexican fodd at its best folks. ever since i went to college in socal and had amazing hole in the wall mexican food, ive been trying to find some in norcal since. for the most part, norcal seems to be caked with chain mexican places like celias, rubios, baja fresh and chitpotle. now dont get me wrong, those places arent bad but its not the same as a mom and pop mexican shop. anyways, found this place on yelp and seeing the decent reviews i had to go try it out. the day i came i wasnt too hungry so all i got was a lengua quesadilla (tongue) and it was delicious. tons of chopped tongue in the quesadilla and dripping w/ oil. now these arent the most healthy places but you can tell everything is made fresh (especially the salsa in the salsa bar) and it was delish. prices are very reasonable for huge burritos and other plates. i will be coming back for a nice carnitas or other kinds of meats burritos. parking CAN be a problem as the place is surrounded by car repair businesses so they have cars EVERYWHERE but still not too bad.

  • Jason H.

While this place could have more items (chile verde, chile relleno, etc), what they make is really good. I have enjoyed their al pastor, carne asada, pollo asado - in burrito / taco / and super taco form. I have also tried their breakfast burritos. They also have a great salsa bar.

    (5)
  • Trenton H.

4.5 stars for being the best Mexican food I've had in the area. Meats are moist without being fatty and crispy without being dry. Salsas are pretty awesome. Extra .5 stars for having delivery which I've never seen from a Mexican restaurant. Only complaint is that they ran out of carnitas last time which is probably their best meat! Going to get pretty fat being so close to a place this good that also delivers.

    (5)
  • Noelia V.

This is my favorite mexican taqueria. There burritos are hands down the best. My favorite is there shrimp a la diabla. They also deliver, very convenient. I have been going there with my family since i was little and now i go there with my own family. My husband and i used to go there when we first started dating 9 yrs ago and now we still enjoy going there for dinner. There al pastor is the best, very juicy and tasteful. You cant beat their quality and they have reasonable prices. And there green salsa with guacamole is the best. it is always fresh. This is definetly my spot to go on the weekends. The place is family friendly and family owned. They care about there customers.

What a great taqueria! It's a small family run taqueria right in a convenient location although parking can be a problem. IGNORE THIS! It's worth the walk! Everything here from the home made tortilla chips, the salsa bar, burritos, tacos.... Everything is awesome including the price. One of my personal favorites is the shrimp cocktail. It's a very large portion of large cooked shrimp in a spicy, flavorful tomato based sauce that it's not like the cocktail sauce that American's are used to. It's a bit more liquidly and doesn't contain horseradish. It's served with a whole bunch of limes to add in there. I highly recommend this! You can ask for it warm or cold, whatever you like. They have a version with all sorts of seafood in there, too, if you don't want to be limited to just shrimp in your cocktail! The burritos are large and flavorful, and they will accomodate anything you'd like such as mixing fillings or adding extra stuff inside. They're very filling so be prepared! The carne asada is my favorite topped with the salsa verde from the bar and I always grab some of those delicious pickled veggies. One thing I want to point out is it's proximity to SFO. If you're hungry when you get off the plane and need some mexican food, stop in to Taqueria San Bruno for your fix!

  • Jeff M.

Quick amazing place for mexican food. Very clean for such a hole in the wall place (at least in the dining area), great salsa's, and generous portions. There is a TV or two there, but they aren't usually turned up high, so it's up to you to pay attention to them or not. Also, if you were confused like I was of the item labelled "burrito plate". If you thought that was the contents of a burrito on a plate without a wrap, you are mistaken. It's a burrito drenched with enchilada sauce. Get the lunch plate instead if you are looking for the non-wrap option. (not that it's a bad thing, I really enjoyed mine.. just more carb town than I wanted).

    (4)
  • Jay N.

Love the burritos here. Especially the carnitas ones. Definitely hits the spot when I'm hankering for some taqueria food. I've been to better places, but this is the place to go if you're out in the area.

    * Ahhh.....Tacos! * I don't get a lot of good taco action in Vancouver.....So with 30 free minutes, I just had to sneak in and grab some tacos. I'm so glad I did! This little taqueria in the middle of a bunch of auto shops and airport parking lots provides a really solid product..... Staff was super friendly, and after ordering she gave some complimentary chips. (The harder kind made from frying the tortilla directly - yum!) There is a salsa bar to help yourself. They had a nice roasted salsa, a salsa verde, and a pico. The salsas were not overly hot, but very flavourful. But the star of the show was the tacos. Unfortunately they don't seem to make fresh tortillas (hence 4 instead of 5 star), but they heated them up nicely and piled them high with very generous portions. I had: - Cabeza (head) - the meat was nice and tender and had good fat content. Delicious. - Lengua (tongue) - again very tender meat, nicely flavoured. Delicious. - Carne asada (grilled steak) - nicely charred meat, yet tender inside each chunk. Very nicely done. All 3 tacos came with diced onions, fresh cilantro, and a tomatillo salsa. For a random quick stop, this turned out quite nicely! If this little spot was in Vancouver it would be a 5 star!

So after 2 weeks or so, I actually went back to my burrito eating ways and have been back at least a dozen times since. No problems here, to myself or friends, so I'll just take it as a one-off event.

AMAZING! That is the first thing that comes to mind, had lunch here, everything was cooked perfect, burritos wrapped tight, meat was tender and flavorful. I have a new favorite burrito place. Clean, professional, I just can't say enough!

I come here for lunch with my colleagues a lot. The burritos are delicious, the place is small but there's lots of room to sit, the decorations are very homely and colorful. There's also a clean bathroom. I recommend the carne asada burrito, the beef is moist and flavorful. It takes some time to cook (everything here is cooked fresh), but they give you tortilla chips and a variety of fresh, delicious homemade salsas. The chicken burrito is also pretty good, the chicken is marinated in some kind of lemony flavoring. But the carne asada burrito is better :-) The only problem is parking, so either walk or bike here or bum a ride. But it's definitely worth a visit!!

Fresh, fast & tasty tacos! Theres not a lot of GOOD taquerias in this area, this one is at the top of my list. Tucked away in a somewhat industrial area, this place has the best pastor tacos & good ceviche too. Ive been back many times & will keep coming. Yum.

awesome service! super authentic and fresh! you have to order the shrimp tacos and fish tacos. you don't get tiny pieces of seafood.. you get a huge pile of shrimp/fish that is just super flavorful and cooked to perfection. their carnitas tacos are delish as well but their fish/shrimp tacos really set them apart from other taquerias.

OMG! Thank you Yelp for one of the best super carnitas burrito I've ever had! When I got the burrito it was so hot that I had to wrap napkins around it so my hungry ass could eat it while I drove. They must cook or grill the stuff before wrapping it all up. The carnitas were deliciously crispy (not in the overcooked sitting all day on the spit way). Just thinking about it now makes my mouth water . . . So, you might be wondering, why no 5 stars? Well, it took me forever to find it. No thanks to google maps :( It's not along the main San Mateo Avenue drag, but off on the other side where there's a whole bunch auto repair shops. The main reason for the star deduction was because there was NO PARKING! Ugh! I circled around and around and there was no parking space in sight, so I had to park in a red zone across the street . . . Shhhh don't tell on me!

It took us a while to get here due to construction around san mateo ave. This place is amongst auto body shops. It looked clean and the food looked delicious. We bought two super burritos (pollo and cabeza), and 2 medium horchta for $16.97. The burritos were nice and juicy and had enough meat for you to get with every bite. Horchta, on the other hand, was water down. They didn't have the sauce (is it pico de gallo) I normally get with burritos either. I am going to assume the water down horchata and lack of sauce were due to the fact it was Sunday in the evening? I will go back only if in the area but won't be seeking it out.

I'm giving them four based on my experience, which is actually really good. I definitely should have ordered the tacos though, but it just didn't work for me. I got a carne asada bean and egg burrito (about $ 5-6) and the wifey got a pollo asado quesadilla con arroz (about $6-7). The food took a little longer than I though, but not bad at all. Parking sux! The burrito was great in my opinion, although I did run into some pieces of the carne asada that were way too tough and chewy. Most of it was tender enough though and definitely not lacking on the flava flav! The beans went really nicely, even though I almost never order beans in a burrito. I was somewhat less impressed with the pollo asado. The quesadilla was enormous, I wish I took a pic. However, the pollo was a little dry and cut into some pretty big chunks that made it difficult to eat. It was still very flavorful though. The wifey did not care for it at all. A big part of the problem was that they put this horrible guacamole (what taco shops down here in SD call "American" guacamole) in the to-go container. It was mixed with too much watery sour cream, so it was very thin and runny. They also put a grip of sour cream and both the sour cream and the "guac" got all over the bag and were very messy. Oh well. They had a pretty good salsa bar. The roja with the roasted chilis was the bomb, but the other one tasted like tomato sauce. The verde was actually not bad, which really surprised me. If I came back, I would probably try an assortment of their tacos, but I don't see that happening in the near future.

I live in San Francisco, and just ate at this unassuming spot for the first time today. I got the carne asada quesadilla and my friend got four tacos. I tried his pastor taco, and we agreed it had just the right amount of grease. Dry pastor just doesn't do it. The quesadilla was great too. I was very impressed, and the prices can't be beat!

This is one of San Brunos hidden treaseures. Best Mexican in town and they deliver. The only thing that sucks is the location...the parking is impossible

I have been a regular at TSB ever since my wife discovered this place thanks to Yelp. TSB is a hole-in-the-wall located an industrial area really close to the airport that's all about food. While I usually order a veggie burrito, my wife ends up getting their super burrito with tongue, shrimp, pork etc. Their specialty is the trout plate (trucha) which I have sampled several times and would highly recommend this plate. You can't go wrong with most of their burritos or lunch/dinner plates. Lastly, don't miss out on their excellent salsa bar!

I have lived in San Bruno close to 20 years already. I have always heard of good places to eat in San Francisco, in San Mateo, in Daly City. However never in San Bruno, well that change when my Peruvian friend told me to go try the tacos there. I used to go to El Farolito not anymore. This is the spot for me now, I love all the different types of salsas they have on the salsa bar. You should go try it sometime, you won't be disappointed but remember the place is a hole in the wall is not going to be a fancy restaurant with luxurious setting but you go there for the food.

One word.... Hell yeah! This place is sooooooo good, I cannot even imagine going back to 16th n mission for my burrito. Their price is very reasonable as well! Absolutely recommended... My friend had bought me s burrito from this place, he said u used to play soccer for the boss's team! Decide to look it up, even though thisbplsce us quite hidden, n no parking!!! I'd come all the time. I'm gonna try everything!!!

If you are looking for ambiance, this is not your place (the Sponge Bob/Bart Simpson pictures are fun) but if you are looking for out of this world tacos this is your place. We had the carnitas and pastor tacos along with a shrimp cocktail. We ate at Picante in Berkeley yesterday...it was good but didn't hold a candle to TSB.

#200 This is my all-time favorite taqueria, and let me just say, for a Minnesota girl I have been to my share of taquerias. They make the best Orchata and Tamarindo here. They have many veggie options, as well as lots of sea food options. My favorites are the veggie tacos and the shrimp tacos. Eat there, its fun to take in the atmosphere (the game on TV, and murals on the wall) and be sure to check out the bathroom.

...I have to agree with other reviews, to my surprise Taqueria San Bruno made THE best carne asada burrito I have ever had. In my opinion, this burrito had significantly more meat and packed with more flavor than anything I've had at El Farolito, La Taqueria, La Cumbre, Taqueria Guadalajara, and others I can't even remember...and, the price was very friendly! Give 'em a try!

I started coming here in 2010 and have stayed a fan! The burritos are bomb and the nachos are awesome!! I lovelovelovelove nachos and it's one of the ways that I gauge the quality of a taqueria's food by their nachos. San Bruno's nacho chips are nice and thick and crunchy kinda like the tortilla chip version of kettle cooked chips. Because of this, the chips can actually stand up to the moisture from the beans, cheese, guac and salsas. I've gotten the nachos and still had chips solid and scoop-worthy after maybe 10 mins. That, to me, is an achievement! Any Mexican food fan can tell ya, there are few things more disappointing than getting ready to dig into your nachos and finding gross soggy chips. There could be edible gold on those nachos and you're STILL gonna feel like you were ripped off. Not the case here! The salsa bar is also a great plus with the traditional pico, roasted tomato, hot red and green as well as the pickled jalapenos. Anyways, enough about the nachos. The burritos are also good, as are the "plate" burritos (better known as the burrito mojado). I've also had the shrimp cocktail, also delish. I've usually had the steak, but I've also had the chicken and the shrimp. I haven't had the carnitas, so I couldn't give an opinion on that. Overall, the food is good and of good quality. The parking situation may be a little frustrating, but the food is worth the trip for me. They even do some delivery for locals, but I don't know the radius.

So while waiting to have a set of tires mounted and balanced at one of the 947 auto repair shops on the street I ducked out for a late lunch. And having spotted this promising looking joint while searching for the 1 out of 947 auto repair shops that I was supposed to be at, I passed on the shop's recommendation of the sandwich place across the street, heading back down the street to Taqueria San Bruno. And the menu looked quite promising -- the standard taqueria offerings, plus a number of shrimp and seafood dishes, as well as menudo on weekends. Taking an inventory of my Mexican food cravings for the day, I settled on a orden (they call it a "lunch plate") of cabeza, which came with beans, rice, and a small pile of tortillas. BIG DISAPPOINTMENT -- I know my cabeza, and this definitely wasn't. It was mostly trimmings and scraps from a lengua, with both the characteristic flavor and texture. Not a single bit of chewy good cartilage, nor one of the five different textures of meat you usually get off of a beef head. And even as an order of lengua, which I had almost opted for in the first place this was rather disappointing, since lengua really needs topnotch salsas to set it off. Although appetizingly arrayed in a tray of ice, and looking quite promising, al three that I sampled (a charred chile and tomato, a tomatillo and avocado, and your classic salsa webona [pico de gallo to gringos]) were all dull and uninteresting, as if they had been made in bulk, stored, and doled out over several days. Disappointing.

When you work and live in San Bruno, you pretty much end up hitting up all the lunch food joints eventually. I am just glad I stumbled on this gem of a taqueria sandwiched between auto body shops near downtown SB. Tasty, filling, and cheap. They have a very nice selection of salsa ( my favs. Salsa Verde and Pico de Gallo) and personally love the burritos and tacos (chicken and pork). I try to eat vegetarian twice a week and they have the best veggie burrito I have ever had. If you are looking to try a nice refreshing beer beverage you have to try the Michelada's. They are tasty and the right amount of spicy. If you are looking for lunch places around the SB/S SF/SFO airport area, this is a must.

HANDS DOWN THE BEST BURRITO I'VE EVER HAD. And having lived in Calfiornia for 7 years I've had my fair share of burritos. My fellow Yelpers didn't let me down on this place at all. I ordered the chicken burrito without rice. The chicken was perfectly marinated and grilled and was situated among pinto beans, salsa fresca, and rolled tightly into a flour burrito. My boyfriend ordered a burrito, quesadilla and taco said it was the best Mexican he's ever had. The salsa bar has a great selection of mild to spicy salsas, and their chips...oh those chips...yum diggity. Wow. cannot wait to go back. Total dive in a strip of auto repair shops but who cares...go for the food. Very inexpensive, too.

Best shrimp burrito ever! When in the mood for some extra spice I ask to add some a la diabla sauce. Salsa bar excellent as well, great carrots. They don't always have the pico de gayo on hand. Parking can be a challenge. Large portions at a reasonable price.

Since I moved to San Bruno, I've been a regular at this place. Their chicken tacos are so good. The chicken is smooth and tasty. They also have a very good salsa I put on everything! Spicy!

Yes! I was so excited about this place! Thanks to my fellow Yelpers I had an awesomely tasty lunch on my first day of a class I was taking nearby. It's a little sketchy getting there...especially when the buildings and "decor" of the area drastically changes as soon as you literally cross the railroad tracks. Everyone who works there is really nice and seeing that every mechanic and local was there for lunch was really comforting. I enjoyed my veggie burrito and their chips are so fresh and crunchy. It was just what I needed to stay awake during the latter half of my class that day.

Friends kept telling us how good this place was, inexpensive and delicious so we tried it for lunch yesterday. Hands down the shrimp tacos were the best I've ever eaten, the shrimp were fresh and sweet and tender and perfectly cooked, the simplicity of the verde salsa on top, lots of cilantro, it was absolutely delicious and I loved every morsel. My friend describes these as addictive; I'm with her! My partner had a chicken burrito which was mediocre at best but we've been told that the shrimp burrito is fantastic. We will definitely go back!

Love, love, love this place! A hidden little gem in the industrial area of San Bruno by the railroad tracks. The people there are very friendly, and the service is quick (very quick). For $3.75 I get an veggie tostada, loaded with beans, rice, guacamole, cheese, lettuce, salsa and sour cream. Delicious meal and the pricing couldn't be any better!

Going a step further after an awful experience at a taqueria in Brisbane... I came to my old stand-by and new official favorite taqueria, Taqueria San Bruno. Not only are their veggie burritos phenomenal, but their value of the customer is exceptional. During my recent visit, I stopped to appreciate how wonderful it is that not only do they not require a minimum purchase on credit cards... but they ACCEPT AMEX! Do you realize how rare that is? Very. And the woman there is so incredibly sweet, show knows what I like and this last time as I was leaving she grabbed my cup and asked if I wanted more water. I said, "Oh no no, it's horchata." She said, "OK!" and proceeded to top off my horchata! I love her.

I go to this place all the time, usually at least 1 every 2 weeks. I still love the salsa bar and the quality of the enchiladas has gone up. I've eaten other food there but I find myself going back to the enchiladas. If your looking for some good salsa and pretty good food I'd encourage you to check it out..

So I had a random craving for a carne asada burrito one day after work, so I searched for "taqueria" with my phone on google maps, and this place was the closest. It's located a bit away from downtown San Bruno, but little did I know that it would be one of the best. In the span of about 10 minutes, I was in and out with my order, and was pleased that there was no minimum for paying by card. Well played. Oh man, I haven't had a carne asada burrito this good in a long time. Whatever they marinated the steak with, along with the mixture of rice, beans, cheese, and tortilla really hit the spot. Every bite I took had everything in it, which is how a burrito is supposed to be made. No sauce was needed to make this burrito taste good by itself. I'll definitely come back here if I have that random burrito craving again.

Pretty damn good burritos... Good size and not greasy at all. Its conveniently located to my new regular mechanic and I'm so excited to be eating here every time I come for a tune up. I just had the regular burrito and ordered my daughter a quesadilla. The burrito wasn't super greasy which I loved. I hate when burritos are dripping all over your hand to you elbows. I mean I don't mind it at all, but still just not my thing!! Highly recommend it when you're getting your car fixed at Limitless Motorsports!!

this place is the bomb! great authentic mexican restaurant no frills environment. place order at counter type joint. its a bit hard to find -kinda by the airport and near all of these car autobody shops. the tacos here are amazing, and comes in little soft tortilas with cilantro and a hint of lime. These are how tacos are supposed to be made. Their menudo soup, dinner combos are also really good. free salsa bar that is well maintained and is always cold which is important. last time we went we had carne asado taco, tripe (cow stomach) , lengua (tongue), pork, all were extremely good. for $20 for 2 you will leave stuffed! this is a must hit when I am heading down south and craving mexican food!

I have strong feelings for TSB. My fiance and I eat there at least once a week. It's the running joke with our friends how often we check into this place. The ceviche is a must! The fish is fresh and consistently great. I like to get the shrimp burrito or shrimp tacos- really, really good. I am normally pretty squeamish about ordering seafood from places like this. But not here. The service is also very good. The staff knows us by now and we feel like family when we go there!

  • Jamie F.

The vegi burrito is tasty- grilled tortilla rather than steamed, yay! - but they don't have black beans, only refried; also, the guac is pretty runny. So the burrito is pretty darn soggy, but tasty nonetheless. The prices are really really cheap. Cheap even for a taqueria. $4.95 for a vegi burrito is $2 cheaper than the taqueria near my house. The service is pretty quick, though if you ask for tap water you kinda have to nag them or they'll just go on to take the next order and forget about it. They deliver but their minimum order for delivery is $25, which works out to 4 people ordering.

Yay! I'm a fan...so far. Not to say anything bad about this Taqueria, it's just one visit. I had to drop one of my family's cars at the mechanic's (Technic Auto) to get some work done and it was estimated to take less than two hours, so I thought, "why not try this place for lunch while I wait." Walking into the Taqueria, there's the usual wall paintings that I see a lot in most Taqueria, which is pretty cool to see what they put up. Standard tables and chairs and they have a big flat screen TV at the corner of the store! Pretty awesome! I'm just going to jump right into the food. I ordered the fish tacos again. I say again because if you follow my reviews, you'll notice that one of my previous entries about Flying Fish Grill actually happened on the day prior to this culinary adventure. Anyway, moving on. The Fish Tacos were awesome! Here are some of my reasons for it: 1) Fresh fish! 2) Lots of fish! 3) I didn't have stomach problems later in the day! The fish were chunky pieces and another Taqueria that I know of that served fish tacos in this fashion (not beer-battered) is El Burrito on Taraval. The biggest differences between the two are put in two simple words: quality and quantity. I thought that Taqueria San Bruno delivered my fish tacos flawlessly. They even had two corn tortillas to hold every thing in place where other locations limit it to one. I have always been curious about this place since I brought my cars to Technic Auto. Always standing and staring while I sign the paper work and drive off with whoever came with me to drop my car off. Now I know where to wait while the car is in the shop, but I hope I don't have to break my car so I can eat there. Why not just go there any time? Ha! Try looking for parking there...

One of the better Mexican Restaurants that I've been to. I always stop in here for lunch when I visit my friend down the street. Their Shrimp Tacos are excellant and cooked to perfection everytime. Their Super Shrimp Burritos are just as good as their tacos. Their Al Pastor is very yummy and tasty. I love their salsa bar. I usally get full off of their chips and salsa hahaha. I would definitely recomment this place.

this place... best tacos in the area. this little dive in downtown south city is around the corner from where i used to work. i've never had a bad meal here. the fish tacos are amazing. the quesadilla marina is awesome. the carnitas burrito, so good. but the best part? the salsa. their roasted salsa is incredible. you could put that stuff on dirt and it would make it taste good. 2 tacos, 1 horchata, and as much chips and salsa you can eat, all for under 8 bucks. you can't complain about that.

    (5)
  • Daniel P.

Another hole in the wall joint that delivers!! Don't let the auto stores fool you, inside is clean, salsa and pickled veggies are awesome, burrito is BIG and the chicken was cubed not shredded, whole beans instead of refried paste.

Squished in the middle of an industrial strip of auto shops and airport parking lots is a place that, from the outside, looks like something straight out of a barrio seen in a Van Damme movie. Inside, isn't any better. The bathrooms are basically right in the middle of the dining area...in fact, there is a table between the two bathroom doors. It's the kind of place where you don't even wanna step on the floor even with shoes on, and you're constantly thinking you're going to get stabbed. With all of that said, it doesn't matter because the burrito here is probably the BEST I have eaten in several years. A friend was ranting about it, and I wanted him to stfu so I finally went. I am so glad I went. I'm not sure if the employees are all family, but regardless, it has that vibe, which is even more awesome. They're really nice. Soccer is ALWAYS on the T.V. too. It's worth driving here from out of the area too. If I could make love to these burritos, I would...but that would be weird, right?

  • Brad S.

Very solid super carnitas super burrito. The carintas was more diced as opposed to shredded and was crispy, almost like they fried the diced chunk before making the burrito. The burrito had some sort of sauce inside of it that must have been a mix of cheese and sour cream and whatever else that was very tasty. I'll definitely be coming back here for some more burritos.

  • David K.

I frequent this taqueria fairly often and this is easily my favorite chicken(pollo) super burrito I've had in the Bay Area. Their lunch plates are a great deal as well. The staff is super friendly and you get complimentary chips and salsa with every order. The Mexican Simpson's murals are hilarious too.

When I walked in, I got the stare down, not the 'I'm gonna shank you' kinda stare, more of a curious 'what the fuck is this Chinaman doing in a Taqueria' kind. I've never even heard of this place till I came across yelp since its in the middle of the industrial area of San Bruno (and by industrial I mean the airport parking and car repair places). Food is good, lots and lots of choices. Atmosphere is very Mexico?? (It did remind of some places in Tijuana, but not sure if thats really representative of Mexican decor). Soccer on the TV with 99% of the people inside watching it. This will be my default Taqueria when I crave Mexican food and am too lazy to go to SF.

this a great place to have a perfect tasty burrito, in my opinion is the best place for a burrito, and most of the food, I read about expensive tacos, but you get what you paid for the tacos are big, a lot of meat, and two tacos will fill you up, not only your stomach you will be very satisfied with the taste. One good thing is you call make the order they will have ready for you just to pick it up on time. Will recomend.!! =)

This place was really good. Its not quite a hole in the wall, but its in the middle of a small little industrial/commercial street. The food was really good. All the ingredients were fresh, including the tomatoes in the salsa, lettuce, guac, sour cream. All veggies had a real nice crisp to them and tasted fantastic. The chips were crunchy and fresh and the salsas were fresh and had a great taste and kick to them. I got the carne asada tostada which was a decent portion and had a good amount of meat. The carne asada was tender and tasted great. The guac, sour cream, and veggies were all really fresh. The best part was the tostada shell which was nice and crunchy and didn't get soggy with all the meat, veggies, and cream/guac on top. And the tostada with meat was only $4.75! I'll certainly be coming back here, and if the rest of the food is like this I'll probably up it to a 5. Also, my friend got a the super burrito which looked really good and very big. So I'll have to try that next time.

Overall, the best taqueria in San Bruno/SSF. Great salsas and flavorful meat options. Ask for a super steak and shrimp burrito and I promise you'll walk away a changed individual. Definitely not sexy but the food is legit.

Plate burrito is wonderful, as is the spicy salsa. Chips are okay--very hard. Toss in a Mexican soda and you have a good lunch time option, watching their TV or admiring the mural on the wall. Parking can be a bit tough. It seems you can order take-out and park on the sidewalk out front.

Update 08/08/08 - Went there last night for a Carna Asada super burrito. Tasted yummy, but then I got a tummy ache..... Don't get me wrong, I'll still go back. Thank goodness for yelpers! I was supposed to go out to Celias with a bunch of friends. Well, I missed the happy hour but I was still craving some good carne asada. So, I thought lets try Yelp and see what they can find for me. Had the carne asada super burrito. There was something in there that gave it a different great flavor. It was by far the best burrito I have ever had. Everyone in there was nice. They all smiled and said hello. You could tell they were all wondering what this little white girl was doing in there by herself. Thank goodness for the picture menu wall....

One of the best taquerias i've been to. Seriously, this is probably just at good at El Farolito on the Mission. I would've never stepped into this place if it weren't for my friend that owns The Shop San Bruno couple blocks down... it seems like everytime i go to his shop i have to stop by San Bruno taqueria...i crave the regular burrito with chorizo meat! OMG it's a heart stopper but wow... so delicious, and you know what's so great about it! It's less then $5 including chips! STELLAR! The horchata is the bomb! and the have an open salsa bar, with my favorite salsa, salsa verde! They have some great salsa available! Go check this taqueria out! Make sure you try the plated burrito as well.. which is basically a super burrito with a wet sauce and cheese on top!

This has probably been my 10th stop here and I've never seen any ethnicity other than Mexican - that says something right there. This place is a great, authentic taqueria. I have three dishes that I measure all other taquerias by: Carne asada burittos, fish tacos and chicken tostadas. Taqueria San Bruno is up there with the best in Northern California. Yeah you can get better fish tacos in San Diego - probably better carne asada too, but this little hole in the wall is worth the stop - especially after a long flight back from wherever (SMA parking is about the cheapest LTP for SFO by the way) Even though I wrote about a la carte items, 99% of the other patrons eat the platters. The Pollo Asada is especially tasty. A solid five stars for the dive restaurant, taqueria category. PS: Even though I called it a dive, it's clean and the staff is always incredibly nice.

I have an affliction for this place. Their Al Pastor is amazing and always cooked to perfection. Definitely one of my fave burrito spots.

Mmmm mmmmm, I really like this place and it sucks that not many people run into it since it's in the back street; kinda hidden. It's so close to Tanforan Mall you would think people would come here for some real mexican food rather than Green Salsa Mexican Grill lol. The prices here are very reasonable, the service is great, and they have some bomb ass Horchataaaa and Watermelon Juice =)

I wanted something different from the usual dim sum with friends or pho with family on a sunday afternoon so I decided to go try out this new Taqueria in San Bruno. Flashback to last weekend, I was at a company picnic for one of our clients and they had catering services from this nice little location. Their taco carnitas tasted damn good with the Corona I was drinking and their Truchas (grilled-trout) was very tasty.....and this was at the picnic!! Flash-forward today as we drove up this run-down ghetto shack across the street from the Skypark. At first, I was like...damn....ghetto....must be very good food (cuz we all know all the good places to eat are at run-downed restaurants!). Their pictures on the wall menu really helped out my compadres and apparently they even throw Soccer parties during the televised games. I got to try the different type of tacos besides the carnitas.....got the carne asada and pollo....exceptionally good I must say. Definitely worth checking out yelpers! *edit* 9/20/07 - went back to this place last night to enjoy some tacos....was in a very hungry mood so I tried their nachos. OMG....their nachos are good. The fried beans are actually placed underneath the chips with the meat, salsa, cheese, guacamole, and sour cream on the top of it. What do you get??? After 15 minutes of eating....their chips are NOT EVEN SOGGY...still CRISPY and WARM. Jeezus....i'm so use to soggy ass chips from other places.

I got a chicken quesadilla and wasn't thrilled with how much I paid for it because I added guacamole and there is a significant price difference between adding guacamole and avacado. Oh well I now know for next time. Anyway the chicken in the quesadilla was amazing. I've never had some so great. I still crave the chicken and will definitely be back for it.

I had a great Carne Asada burrito here. Grilled tortilla which I love and grilled steak which was awesome. The menu is strong to very strong, I'm coming back to explore it all. The food is excellent with a great chips and salsa bar to enjoy while you wait for your food. The service was friendly and given the location their are very hungry warehouse mouths to feed here everyday. Enjoy!

The is the best tasting hole-in-the-walll taqueria ever! I'm sure many patrons of the SkyParK Parking Terminal or Lullaby Lane's warehouse never even noticed this wonderful establishment, as it is discreetly nestled between 2 run down mechanic shops. I ran into this place my accident as I was getting my car fixed next door. When I peeked in, it just looked like a tiny Mex restaurant filled with soccer fans and 10 tables. My stomach was growling, and I thought what the heck. I ordered their grilled fish taco, and I was in for a big surprise. It was so delicious, I swear I saw fireworks! They gave you big chunks of grilled Talapia on 2 mini corn tortillas, sprinkled with minced onions & cilantro, and topped with their secret green fish taco sauce. The fish was savory, moist, and kept me satisfied for the entire afternoon. For those who have a bigger appetite, I would recommend that you try the chicken and shrimp burrito. It's a taste bud pleaser as well.

THE BEST! This place is awesome. I have lived in San Bruno for over 20 years and have never come across a good taqueria. Finally, a GREAT taqueria! We ordered a carne asada super burrito and chicken quesadilla. The carne asada was very tasty, the burrito was all around great. The chicken was really good too. They give you free chips and different types of salsas to choose from. The chips are the good kind...not the kind you can buy in a bag at costco. Prices were very reasonable as well. It was also very clean inside and people were nice. This is definitely a must go to taqueria in San Bruno. I ate here for lunch today and wanted to go back for dinner! Oh, and they take credit cards too! So excited to finally have a great taqueria in San Bruno!

After I moved out of the Mission district in SF, I sorely missed the option of feasting at the plentiful taquerias several times a week (Cancun, Faralito, La Taqueria, et. al.). But after discovering Taqueria San Bruno, my longings for the Mission have subsided. This place consistently kicks out one of the best burritos on the planet. My faves are the super carne asada and the super camarón (shrimp). They also have a fabulous salsa bar -- with 5 tasty salsas that will rock your world. This alone puts it a notch above the competition. I only wish I lived walking distance so that I could eat here more often and sample more of the menu. The ceviche tostadas look awesome. Get here. Quickly.

With the exception of the parking and maybe even the location, this place is on point when it comes to really good mexican food. I had the Carne Asada Burrito and it was incredible. If you want real mexican food come here...the service is friendly and the price is right! Because of the parking situation, I noticed alot of people were getting their food to go...be sure to bring a place mat for the car and lots of napkins! I'll definitely come back!

Yummy Al Pastor! Get the Super/Supreme, since the burrito is really dry without the guacamole and cheese.

By far mine and my husband's favorite taquieria - burritos are huge and have just the right amount of moisture, tacos are big, homemade salsas are delicious. We have had the chicken, carne asada, carnitas, shrimp, chorizo and fish, all of it was delish. We are moving to Santa Clara soon and I will be sad to be so far away from Taqueria San Bruno!

I realized later the Torta and the Al Pastor are the best things on the menu. The burrito is also good. However, the guacamole isn't so good (just get avocados) and the sour cream is not necessarily fresh. Also keep in mind that almost here is Mexican and sometimes you may need to order in Spanish (although I personally like that!).

I ate here while getting my car worked on by Limitless Motorsports right next door. They told me this place was pretty good, and it was SUPER GOOD. I got myself a burrito. It was awesome. Nuff said. I'm coming back here for sure.

Great carnitas super burrito (no rice, no sour cream). No steamed tortillas (a plus in my book), and great salsas (both the green stuff and fire-roasted). A little bit out of the way (in the flight path as the planes take off from SFO) unless you live/work in the area, but well worth it.

I LOVE THIS PLACE. It's ugly, in a weird neighborhood (parking sucks during work hours) and it might have the loudest juke box on the planet, but the food is to die for. I always have fish or shrimp and I crave the fish tacos - simple with onions, cilantro, green sauce and some lime. Mmgood. The shrimp soup is equally as tasty and an enormous serving. My other half always has steak tacos and he has a hard time not getting them every day. (he works down the street). If you park offsite at the park 'n ride place, you can pick up food for your flight!

i just got back from lunch with some coworkers. the three of us ordered the lunch plates which comes with rice, beans and your choice of meat. johnny got the grilled chicken, carl did the carne asada, and i decided to make it a carnitas day. food took kinda long but it was fairly busy so it was understandable. to kill time, we had chips and there was an open salsa bar with a soccer game blaring on the TV above it. food finally arrived and the portions were what you would expect. the food looked fresh and the presentation was no nonsense, here is your rice, beans and rice, mofo.. 25mins or so later, our plates were spotless. we vacuumed everything consumable on our plates. as soon as you take your first bite, you will say, "hey, its pretty good." i would def recommend this place. another cool thing about this place, there are pictures on the wall of most of their dishes.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
